Auburn, Tennessee, FSU, Clemson and South Carolina have always recruited the state hard. Notre Dame has too. Michigan and Ohio State have started to hit Georgia hard. And now, judging by that top 50, A&M and Texas are now recruiting Georgia. I don't recall ever seeing that before.
The competition for in-state talent is only getting tougher and deeper.

Mama knows Junior can't pass math class where there's more letters than numbers.

They show up every year in late summer. They're like geese. They stop by and öööö on everything on their migration to Florida for the winter.

I think the additional schools you mentioned are just filling the void Johnson has left. Too much talent in our state for others to ignore if we're not going to be a factor.

Please tell us when we used to compete for the State's top talent and while ur at it, please provide a list of the top 50 who scored around 1100 on the SAT, took extra math in hs, have a GPA of around 3.4, and which of em actually desire a first rate education requiring a GREAT deal more effort than other schools recruiting them.
Your canary just died of listening to naive bullshit.

    This should be good---popcorn ready.

PS---Mods, did dudu slip through your screening process ?

Hi saxon---honest question: What's your take on how many of the top 100 players in Georgia or top 200 in the Southeast, are in uga's potential recruiting pool and how many are in Tech's? Obviously, you are going to have to guess at it and feel free to answer to yourself or on here--doesn't matter to me, but you did ask.

who cares what a dwag fan thinks?

Answer: No football player going to 'u'ga is gonna qualify to play for us. mutt players are ööööing idiots. the place is a ööööhole factory that'll let 'em take stupid-ass'd majors like "women's studies" or some bullshit like that. The mutt admin only cares about winning football games and not a damn about the athlete.

We have that in common, because I too could not care less about any mutt player, coach, nor fan.

to hell with all of 'em.

Until the school cares (read: the hill, prez, board) not much will change if you fire and shoot everyone at the GTAA, the coaches, buzz, scoreboard operator, etc. I think that T Stan is making some positive moves thus far--he inherited a mess with the GTAA from Braine(dead) and M Bob the clown.

Well, we are talking about one class in 2 decades. Is it possible to do it again one year? Sure. Is it possible to do it consistently? Not at this time. Illinois and Pitt also had top 25 classes that year and UVA and Rutgers were just outside the top 25. The rich have gotten exponentially richer since then and we've remained about the same.

Hasn't happened since the Bobby Dodd days on a consistent basis.

Should illiterates be admitted to the state’s flagship university to play football?

    From gojackets.com:

    · From 1985 to 1999 we had six top twenty-five classes.

    1985 # 12
    1988 # 22
    1991 # 14
    1993 # 19
1996 # 9 (based mainly on Quincy Carter)
    1999 # 19

Some random rankings. The ranking system does not necessarily match with some of the current systems.

    Robert Lavette 5*
    Gary Lee 3*
    Ivory Lee 4*
    John Davis 4*
    Todd Rampley 4*
    Terrence Curry 5*
    Eric Bearden 5*
    Rod Stephens 5*
    Ricardo Ingram 2*
    Steve Davenport 4*
Jerry Mays 3* (give credit here. only one 1-A offer)
    Cedric Stallworth 5*
    Randy Baldwin 5*
    Joe Siffri 4*
    Shawn Jones 4*
    Bobby Rodriguez 5*
    Antoine Moore 5*
    Emmett Merchant 5*
    Willie Clay 4*
    Kevin Battle 5*
    William Bell 4*
    Calvin Tiggle 4*
    Coleman Rudolph 4*
Donnie Davis 5* (#2 QB behind Eric Zier and ahead if Heath Shuler)

Bottom line is that it’s BS that it can’t be done.

mm, there's are reasons why your data is ancient. They have been accurately noted on here enough times for you to know what they are. I see at least 6 names on your list that wouldn't even be invited for a visit today.

Ancient to some, maybe, but all well post-Dodd. We’ve had coaches, even long after the advent of Prop 48 in 1986, that competed well against all comers. We’ve benefited from special admits along the way as well.
The fact that our current leadership is not handling things well should not be an indictment of our capabilities and future.
