Transfer Portal Tracker

was waiting in my car and disconnected my CarPlay. Chuck and Chernoff was on and I usually switch it off quickly bc it’s usually mutt felating. They were talking about Tech and the portal. Specifically Singleton. They said ES is asking for $800K and GT is paying him $300K. Then in their typical condescending tone about GT, “well, Georgia Tech is basically going to be college football’s buffet every year. They’re about to have an exodus of players to bigger progrums that will just outplay them for the players. And Tech has nothing to offer these kids. Because even if Tech matches them financially, they’re still not Auburn or georgia or Florida, a football power”. Then the other cuck says, “well Tech will say their education….but none of these kids care about that”. Then they go on talking about how great Key has done but he’ll never take the next step bc kids will just keep leaving, Tech can’t afford to pay to play, and Tech has nothing to offer.

God damnit we needed to win in Athens to shut this narrative down.
Wen did win in Athens. Every college football fan knows it.

Uche Iloh is in the portal. We are already graduating 6 DL and now two are portal'd. I hope this is because they were pushed off the depth chart by walkons.

Still scratching my head on Singleton (likely) to Auburn.
On one hand I do understand the 500k pay raise (before agent fees, taxes, etc) but I really think betting on yourself and staying loyal is bigger.

Auburn passing 2024 : 250 rec for 3167 yards (losing 1,2,3 QBs after this season)
GT passing 2024: 244 rec for 2884 yards (Keeping 1 & 2 QBs)

At Auburn he will likely be 2-3 best target (barring any other major portal in's)
At Tech he would be target 1A/1B with Rutherford.

I think he is risking a lot of touches and targets for a quick bag. I dont think that works often ( think Dominic Lovett, CJ Daniels, Robert Lewis, etc)
I think the best thing for his NFL future is touches, not "level of competition"

Auburn will make a significant QB upgrade in the portal, and I'm sure Singleton sees this. Combine it with the money, it makes sense.

One of many forgettable Auburn QBs over the last 20 years.
Other than Cam (“best 80k auburn ever spent” says my good friend and auburn alum) and Nick Marshall, their QBs and their seasons have been a buffet of mediocre
It's interesting how Bo Nix has progressed since leaving there. At one point he was talked about as NFL Rookie of the Year. Maybe it's not the personnel? As an aside, Auburn and FSU are probably two of the worst run programs in the power conferences. Too many fingers in the pie imo.

I wouldn't bet on that. A good QB will be a very high demand target and wanting to go to a real contender. Luke Kromenhoek the back-up from FSU is reportedly asking for $1 million in NIL and he couldn't beat out DJU. What do you think Malik Murphy is asking for?

Norvell and gang went all in on DJU and maybe the best thing to happen for them was him getting hurt. It allowed them to see just how bad he was and just how bad the rest of the team was. Line couldn't block, receivers couldn't catch, tight ends literally just got in the way.
Another backup QB from FSU is in the portal too now.

The guy Kromenhoek backed up in high school is hitting the portal from Auburn too, Holden Geriner.

Let him go, he may find out the grass (money) is not greener over there … ie Nate McCollum. The quick buck now may cost him dearly in a couple of years.

if Singleton is the opposite of "risk averse"

I doubt he knows what "risk averse" and its opposite is.

I forgot what the opposite is - risk tolerant maybe?

They didn't turn their QBs onhand into big playmakers, I guess maybe they can luck into one in the portal that sort of knows their system.

Taking a large amount of guaranteed money in college rather than gambling that taking less money in college will increase his chances at making the NFL is very risk averse. Bird in the hand and all that.
