Paul Johnson told Quaide Weimerskirch that if he wanted to see the field he'd need to transfer. That is a fact. You can split hairs about whether that is "cutting" someone all you want... I don't know how forceful a coach can be with actually "cutting" someone.

I don’t know all the facts on Weimerskirch but if it’s what you’re describing then hell yeah there’s a huge difference there. Scenario 1 you’re still on the team, scholarship, and in school. Scenario 2 you’re off the team, off scholarship, and only in school if you can afford it. That’s one big ass hair you’re splitting.

At the same time I’m gonna cheer for the wins so I can’t very well question the manner in which CGC provides them. So I’ll just say thank you and go on my way.

Injuries and fumbles probably didn’t help either. I had high hopes for the ‘fro after seeing his high school tapes.
 
I'm less generous than most here. Scollys are one year commitments by the school. If you are rold to tale you med waiver or transfer, you should take your medical or transfer, smile, and thank coach for the opportunity.

Getting a GT degree for free without a sideline yet full time job of running into the equivalent of brick walls is a feature not a bug.

Even if they are off scolly altogether they are ahead of where they were.

I'm pretty sure the medical waiver has to be genuine, otherwise you're violating NCAA scholarship limitations. I don't know enough about any of these players to know if they've been offered in these situations, or if they validly could be.

Didn't our tight ends leave to go play elsewhere when Johnson came in? I think one went to Alabama and started.

While the scholarships are one-year commitments, that's because they're premised on the kids' grades and effort in school and on the team.

It would be very, very wrong for the school to give a kid a scholarship, decide they didn't like him, he didn't fit the system, we found somebody better, etc., and then deprive him of the scholarship and/or force him to transfer.

I really hope that's not happening here...

Colin Peek. Obviously someone transferring to Alabama is totally different from what's happening to these players.

The Twitter lady specifically wrote that the kid wasn't given the option of riding the pine.

Sellers and Barrick were converted to the tackles and both did a pretty decent job.
 
Somebody posted on this or another forum about the NCAA having special 'roster management' rules for new coaches that CGC could utilize. I wonder what conditions these permit?

Thus the A" team and "B" team I understand we now have. Those that are BTL but giving it their all maybe on the "B" team and will continue on scholly. I don't know this just know we now have an "A" and "B" team now.
 
What are the rules about injuries and scholarships? aj gray stayed on scholarship, I assume that didn't count against the limit though, right?

Correct. If you go medical hardship you keep the scholarship but it does not count vs the 85
 
With the transfer portal opening up all sorts of opportunities for student athletes, I really don't care if we're "cutting" dudes.

We wouldn't be in this position if we had decent quality control staff under the last regime

How do you know? There's a good chance Colin was told the exact same thing - you aren't going to see the field, at least as a tight end. I don't know what Colin nor these kids were told so I don't know. Do you know what each was told? Where they transferred is not relevant.
