UGA Schadenfreude - Signing Day Edition

He clarified in the responses to that Tweet that Roquan Smith to UCLA is, apparently, a done deal, for whatever that's worth.

Even if they get him, UGA is getting killed by some of the local media. 92.9 just had a segment in the last hour slaying them for their inability to keep in-state talent, the lack of versatile athleticism in their recruits, and their general inability to get WR's to go there anymore. The extra kick in in the crotchal region was Craig Sager Jr. from Score Atlanta questioning why UGA wouldn't offer Brad Stewart after he's schooled other SEC CB recruits and noting he has a 4.0 GPA. And Sager Jr. is an ex-mutt player, so if he's off the Kool Aid that should tell you something.

Georgia holds on to the recruits the same way they do the football: they carry them down to the 1 yard line and turn them over.

Lol this is the craziest recruiting story ever.

Lone Star Identity Theft
The Ron Weaver saga wasn’t really a huge story on National Signing Day since he completely duped an entire university with identity fraud in 1996. In fact, it is the last documented case of identity fraud in major college football. Ron Weaver signed with Texas and played every game of the regular season in the 1996 season under coach John Mackovic as a 23-year-old defensive back. There was only one problem. Weaver was actually a 30-year-old by the name of Ron McKelvey who had used up his collegiate eligibility when he played at Sacramento State back in 1989. He duped Mackovic, the University of Texas at Austin and the NCAA — which later found no wrongdoing in the case by the school. Weaver was suspended the day before the Longhorns lost to the Hokies in the Sugar Bowl.
