uga's 5-star QB commit

Eason is just keeping his options open. The more I think about this whole situation, the more I am inclined to think Richt stays 1-2 more seasons. When you fire a coordinator, that is easy, but when you fire a head coach you are firing their whole staff. Richt + Pruitt + Schotty = somewhere in the neighborhood of 8m/yr over the duration of their contracts. I'm not sure how the buyouts are structured, but I can't imagine letting go of all three would be cheap right now.

As far as the fans go, they are all idiots. I can't believe they are saddling themselves to some 18 year old kid instead of a winning coach. That shows you the level of desperation they have to win and the lack of trust they have in their coach to do it. What they haven't connected yet is that regardless of who the savior QB is, when Richt is your coach you will never go the whole way.

DJ Shockley couldn't even win a starting job in the ööööing UFL, and it was all he could do to be the third string bitch boy in Atlanta for a handful of years.

...

I don't really understand the hype around this guy. Talk to a gagger and they'll tell you how, if given more of a chance, they would have won a NC with him (however, they could have won an NC with about 35 different people that never panned out).

It reminds me of a time that I was in a store in Athens a few years ago and there were a couple of guys behind me legitimately talking about the Falcons should start Shockley over Vick and Schaub. Now, I am by no means a confrontational type, but I actually stood there and said, "what the öööö?!"

I've heard a lot of people talk stupidly about football, but this was one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. I thought it may be an isolated incident, but I have actually heard others say it, as well.

If Eason fails the melt in ugaynation is going to be glorious

There is no guarantee that Eason will be a great college QB. Some guys just don't make the jump to the next level and some guys that are under recruited become öööö fine QB's. UGAg keeping a coach to get one high school player because he is supposedly the savoir of the program is just öööö stupid. For all they know, the next great QB of the program may be a Colquitt County or Cartersville or somewhere in North Carolina. Hell, Ramsey was supposed to be the heir apparent down there and he sucks.

We agree on all that but Eason, I'm sure, is playing some part in their AD's decision. Richt has practically zero chance of lasting next year if Eason doesn't come in there and at least do no worse than what they're getting out of their current QB rotation and if Chubb loses some of his mojo after the surgery.

During Shockley's time in the cesspool, Richt had that team bursting at the seams with talent. That's what these fools don't seem to understand. You can bring in a six star QB if you like but if the rest of your team needs to be carried by the kid then he's likely going to carry them straight into the Outback Bowl at best.

I still believe JT5 is more parts what we saw last year than this one and we're seeing what happens when the rest of the team can't support their own weight. You could put Joe ööööing Hamilton on the field against VPI next week and maybe he breaks a couple of runs that Thomas couldn't just on athletic ability alone but the end result is going to be the same.

And before anybody shits a brick, I hold Joe in the same god-like esteem as anyone else who saw him play and I'm by no means saying Justin is his equal, but a star quarterback has a ceiling determined by the tools you give him to work with. I figured this was common sense before I saw so many of these morons saying Eason was the determining factor in the program's immediate future.

If Georgia actually thinks that it's worth keeping a crumbling staff around and pinning their hopes primarily on a single player then for our purposes it likely makes little difference whether Richt is there next year or not, they're going to be in position to be knocked down a peg or ten and it's just a matter of whether we're man enough to do it.

IF cmr loses to GT - he is toast.

An AD at a huge program like that will not give a tinker's darn about some 18 year old from the state of washington that plays against lackluster h.s. competition.

But, as is always the case, we & gaggers should be careful of what we wish for.

I have told my UGAg friends that don't feel we are a rival that a head coach at UGA can survive losing to Florida, Auburn, Tennessee, but losing to Georgia Tech is a firing.

Sort of like GT keeping Hewitt for a certain one and done, it is plain stupid. Kids get injured , get in trouble and don't meet expectations.
