I really did think we would look at someone who would at least be a real candidate for next head coach. You don't have to promise them a head-coach-in-waiting thing, just that it's a guaranteed interview and an early audition (tanking the team to get Collins fired would harm in the sense).

The more I think about it, the more it feels like going with Long is like a Patenaude Ver 2.0, just a linear intermediate upgrade. Combined with not bringing in an outside DC, feels like we're going to settle on "what we were doing before can work, we just need to do it better", which doesn't seem likely to pan out. I know we Tried to find something much different Kittley, but idk if not getting him means going with some so similar to before.
You really think Long is just an so so upgrade to P?

From what I understand, the offense he runs is pretty similar to what we were doing before. So it becomes a question of how much can he improve on what we were already doing. In terms of that how much, I'm not very encourage by his inability to find any kind of coaching job after not being retained by ND. Then after a year what he finds is what had been an average Tulane team that proceeded to go 2-10 (though would be wrong to entirely blame that part on him, their DC was also new and didni't seem to do well) and finish in OFEI exactly one place above us.

If you want to look for a Tech guy, there is always David Dean. Has had good offensive success.

Stingtalk: “Fire our bum OC.”

Also Stingtalk: “I hate all the OCs we can afford. öööö Them All!”
I doubt that every other name that has been suggested in the meantime has been financially out of range. The question would be how many of them said no and how many we decided we didn't want for whatever reason. In terms of the latter, would poor judgement in selection really be that unreasonable of a theory?

I'm going with a couple of things, which are completely off the wall.

The discussion around moving Thacker around while firing Patenaude may come down to Thacker, while sucking as a coordinator, contributing more to the program when taken everything together. In other words, while Patenaude may have sucked less than Thacker, it could have been more than just output or play that Collins took into account. Perhaps, Patenaude wasn't pulling his weight in regards to recruiting (remember that goofy ass text with Sims...???). Maybe, he was butting heads philosophically with the other coaches. Even if it wasn't unprofessional or none of the relationships were outright broken or dysfunctional, you'd still want everyone in the situation we're in to all be rowing together. If one guy is always playing the "ya...but..." game, that can slow things down or stifle innovation. We're at a point now where we need to innovate cause our öööö ain't working.
He wasn’t clown enough so he got kicked out of the circus.

How come PressManCoverageMan is not on the list? He thinks he knows everything.
No I don't know everything.

I simply have logic based opinions about CFB, something that pisses you off, probably because your opinions are filled with so much misguided emotion and femininity.

Soft fans like you are why we have a soft FB program, are you in the camp that believes we don't compete with uga & Clemson?

The correct response to that post was
