USA today's Myerberg's CFB ranks kicks off with #125:GSU

GSU is indelibly associated with Georgia Southern. Georgia State needs to come up with their own nickname - GST for example.

Or they could just cancel their football program since it will never make money.

Nooooo. GST is indelibly linked with WGST and the good ol' days when Tech was known as the Georgia School of Technology. Don't do it!

We better not be #41 or I'll start offering clues about how much this guy knows about something other than obscure football trivia.

I thought it was clearly Georgia Southern (a university since 1990)
But Georgia State has been a university since 1969. Seems like they've been using it just a touch longer.

And how 'bout this business-as-usual move by the Board of Regents? Georgia State was originally founded as the Georgia Tech Evening School of Commerce. In the '30's it became independent and known as the Tech School of Commerce. Then, in 1947 the BOR decided to change the name to the 'Atlanta Division of the University (sic) of Georgia. Typical.

Yet, State still has a much closer relationship with Tech, e.g. the whole band/cheerleader crossover thing, shared graduate programs, the Olympic village, etc. IMO, the BOR missed a golden opportunity to merge Tech and State into a huge urban university that, if done properly, could have rivaled Stanford. It would have taken several years, but could have been pretty badass.

yes, my post was facetious. anyone that said GSU is "indelibly linked" with GaSouthern must me younger than born in 1990, since before then they were not GSU because they were not "U" so to say that Southern is GSU is dumb, imo, or the talk of a tyke

in any case it is of little relevance to either the scope of football or the scope of higher education which of these locations try to claim the moniker

You'll know it's Tech when the clue is:

This school is 1 of 5 FBS schools that do not have university in its name.

GT is the only one of the 5 not already listed:

Navy = 60
Air Force = 67
Boston College = 100
Army = 106

It's a hypothetical clue. The clue for 41 is:

Who is No. 41? This team's strength and conditioning coach graduated from the same university as the team's offensive line coach and run game coordinator.

#41 is Washington.

— Who is No. 40? This team's starting quarterback shares his last name with two Roman statesmen.

It's Marshall.
