USA today's Myerberg's CFB ranks kicks off with #125:GSU

#40 is Marshall

— Who is No. 39? This team signed one three-star recruit and 21 two-star recruits in its most recent recruiting class.

It's Ohio.

Yeah, this is an interesting pre-season ranking. I'd like to see how good this looks 5 weeks into the season.

Probably looks as bad as every other ranking looks.

This was 2012:
http://www.presnapread.com/the-countdown-2012-list-in-progress/

Looking at some less expected AP final top25 teams, he had Utah State #67, Northwestern #59, Oregon State #80, San Jose State #76, NIU #54, Vandy #66. I would say it's pretty bad that he didn't have any of them in top 50 for someone doing research into these teams.

This was 2011:

Looking at some less expected AP final top25 teams, he had Baylor #64, Kansas State #61, Southern Miss #58, Cincinnati #55.

This was 2010 with GT at #11:
http://www.presnapread.com/the-countdown-2010-list/

Had Nevada #45, Mississippi State #73, UCF #56, Maryland #74, Tulsa #50.

So, not that great, but it's something to pass off-season with and get information on some of our opponents.

Just going to stick to the most recent but probably applies to all of them: So what?

No one predicted any of these teams would be ranked in the preseason. Sometimes surprises happen.

Just explaining one way they are as bad as any other pre-season rankings in estimating the final rankings. Plenty other examples.

#39 is Ohio.

— Who is No. 38? Two Vice Presidents attended this university, though neither graduated from the school.

Surprisingly, this looks like Vanderbilt. Gore and Garner attended, but looks like they didn't graduate.

I expected Vanderbilt in 20s. Their schedule is tough, but not all that bad. Maybe 8-4 with the 4 toughest games: @USC, uga, @TAMU, @UF.

In other Tennessee news, UTennessee is going to get murdered: @Oregon, @UF, uga, USC, @Bama. (Mizzou, Vandy and Auburn as possible losses as well.)

I'd put Auburn in the definite loss category. They aren't going to be nearly as bad as some seem to be expecting. Mizzou could surprise as well if they can stay healthy. I think Tennessee is super-doomed.

I'm so surprised he hasn't ranked us yet I'm going to flip 180 and say top 25.

I'm guessing 35, which is where I thought we would be from the beginning.

— Who is No. 37? This program's second-leading career rusher had four seasons with at least 1,025 rushing yards in the NFL.

Looks like #37 is Penn State. Curt Warner had exactly 4 1025+ yard seasons in NFL.

First thought it might be NIU with Turner, but he only had 3 1000+ yard seasons.

Based on the who's left list I think #32 is about right for Tech.
