USC and UCLA to Big Ten

Agree. Dan Radakovich and Dabo Swinney are not dumb. You can bet the bank Clempson will be leaving the ACC within the next 15 mos. TStan will be abandoning football and going all in with basketball and baseball if he doesn’t get us out of that pathetic excuse for a football conference too. The ACC will not be in the discussion of the new CFB landscape.

Radakovich is in Miami and this is over Dabo’s head. That said, Clemson would be a logical fit for the SEC. USC would fight against their entrance but not sure it would matter….see Texas.

If I’m the SEC, I go after a couple NC/VA schools but who the heck knows what the next move will be. We’re living in crazy times.

If Tech leaves, it should be for the SEC. Would much rather play Auburn/Tenn/Florida than Mich/OSU/Nebraska. Its our natural fit regardless of how smart we think we are. This elitist attitude some of us have is getting stale.

It’s not just an elitist attitude. GT is a small engineering school. It just can’t compete against southern big state schools with Mickey Mouse majors and big $$$ that put football in front of academics. Ohio State is a run of the mill, SEC, no academics, NFL sub-franchise like Bama and UGA. But GT fits in better with Michigan, Penn State and Purdue and Iowa.

I get your sentiment but if the measuring stick is competition, I’m not sure the BIG10 provides that much more of an advantage. We will still have resource challenges against Michigan, Penn State, etc. Would rather chase the dollars closer to home and with familiar foes in our former conference…BIG10 football is just not that exciting to me. Just my opinion.

Count me among those who would prefer the Big 10+. Not an elitist thing. I am a sidewalk fan, so I don't care. I just think we would fare better and frankly, the old SEC rivalries are dead, as much as people don't want to hear it. Most likely, we are the last to do anything and get stuck with whoever will take us. Maybe we get lucky.

Really not a good time for us to suck with all the changes going on.

Unless the ACC disbands according to revenue rights signed through 2035 all home game revenue for schools leaving the ACC will be paid back to the ACC until 2035. If another conference takes four ACC schools and has to pay the ACC back for 13 more years it will not happen.

Radakovich is AD at Miami

I’m gonna have to agree with the naysayers (big surprise there considering my avatar). GT is not the pull that we think it is. We won’t get an invite into the SEC for one obvious reason that lies an hour east of here and we would be extremely fortunate to get an invite into the B1G. The Atlanta market would obviously attractive to the B1G, as are our academics. But our brand, let’s be honest, is öööö these days. We are a laughingstock on the field, our stadium is probably going to be at 40% capacity this upcoming season, and as someone else said, there are likely more Uga and auburn fans living in ATL than Tech fans/students/alumni. We do have a strong history but that doesn’t really play anymore. So we are basically banking completely on our academics.

Frankly, I think the ACC is going to be in the same position as the PAC next offseason and it’s going to be a game of musical chairs of schools trying to bolt. GT needs to be proactive now, but given our history, I doubt we will be.

Maryland and Rutgers are in the Big Ten. Just always remember that. There’s a chance.

Hell there are probably more Ohio State fans living in ATL than GT fans. B1G doesn’t need us to have a market here.
