29,362 announced attendance. That’s gotta be the lowest in 40 years.

Fireworks after the game? Cancelled. Good idea, since everybody said “öööö this” and left, but kinda funny.

The number of times a GT team has had an opportunity to take a step to the next level from their current situation and utterly failed is astonishing. Admittedly, this time we were looking to step up out of the cellar. But favored at home against the worst team in the league on Thursday night national TV? And you don’t even get off the damn bus? Embarrassing. Way to squander every single bit of goodwill built up in the last 2 games.

4 turnovers (including a pick 6). Blocked punt. Tipped FG. Missed FG by UVA. Held them to 14% on third down. When the defense plays like that, it’s almost inconceivable that you could lose the game. But damn if we didn’t almost roll another offensive shutout at home. To the worst team in the league.

The crowd, such as it was, wanted to be fired up. The pick in the end zone and the mixed XP took the crowd out of it immediately. The criminally haphazard officiating tried to get the crowd riled back up, but it didn’t stick.

Knock off the stupid Buzz skits. They’re terrible and embarrassing.

I’ve literally never seen a QB play as bad as Gibson. Not that he had a lot of help from the line or the playcalling or the receivers or the officials, but he looked lost, shell shocked, and utterly out of his depth. Against the worst team in the league. Running out of bounds on that wet fart of a final play was maybe the second worst thing I’ve ever seen on a football field. I almost felt bad for the kid as he slumped off the field to the tunnel in defeat, but it’s astonishing that this is the best backup we have, and we’ve utterly failed to prepare him for the lowest grade of ACC football possible. FSU might murder him, and U[sic]GA will actually feed him his jock strap.

This was just another Collins-type loss. Back to life, back to reality. We’re bad.

What was the worst thing?

I can’t underscore this enough. I was psyched for this game, but I tempered my enthusiasm all day because I knew that, because this was a “take a step up game,” we’d öööö it up just like we have so many times before during my fandom. It’s comically predictable. It’s our brand.

Batt's impending personnel decision is job one for the future of the program. Possibly the most impactful of his career. Stay tuned.

Pretty frustrating that we finally get a defense and our offense goes back to Collins era year 1 futility. It was hinted at by several people that we would be in trouble if Sims missed any time this year. The offense simply won't move unless he plays and plays well. I am not really mad at Key, but at the same time, seeing him as the savior or obvious answer was way premature. The most likely outcome was always a brand new regime next year.

The offense wasn’t exactly effective while Sims was in there. We put up 3 points. 3…

Your first entire post was spot on and pretty much sums up my feelings. But this portion couldn’t be a more accurate assessment of Georgia Tech football and “spotlight” games. As I took my seat last night, with hope and anticipation that this team, this program, was ready to take another step towards some pride and respectability, in the back of my mind I had a hidden fear that we might take a step backwards because that’s what this program does. It’s like we carry a battered fan syndrome around with us, and sure enough those fears came to fruition yet again.

The game plan did not include Sims running the ball which is a big part of our offense. With a healthy Sims using his wheels we win that game going away last night.

Georgia Teching?

How do you not have a trick play ready when it's too far for a Hail Mary Pass.
Why not a Hook and Ladder, Rugby backward laterals play, Flea Flicker. Anything but a straight dropback into the pocket pass that hasn't worked all night. UVA's three man rush flushed him out with ease.
