Watching GT Football

If you can defense the option, you probably suck at defending the pass and rushing the QB, since they are 2 almost-opposing types of D. The successful Option defense is one that reacts well to developing plays. A Passing D has to take initiative to succeed by pressuring the QB and blanket coverage.
Our defense has routinely been destroyed by the simplest option, like the QB zone read option. We haven't even been good at stopping the run. I think we've just done a poor job of coaching, and we haven't recruited many (if any) playmakers - I don't believe the offensive scheme has much to do with it at all.

I'll offer two reasons to back up my belief:

1) Every single team in the country that runs a unique scheme (and there are many) would be in the same boat as us, but plenty of them have good defenses. Alabama can stop the spread, Clemson can stop the power running attack despite not being able to do it at all themselves, Stanford is about as old-school pro style as you can get, but they have no problem with west coast spread teams. You get the picture. They have good defenses regardless of their offensive scheme.

2) Johnson (and his scheme) won title after title at GSU. Their offense was the main reason, but as we've learned, you've got to have a solid defense as well. Somehow practicing against the option didn't hurt them.

My 2nd team that I also follow/cheer for is Notre Dame (I know...don't throw fish) and while the Irish are not as good as Clemson I know the same feeling. I think the pressure to score on every possession and not make any mistakes on offense makes our team incredibly fragile. When the mistakes (like Searcy's fumble) occur we shatter and the game is over....we lose. The mental health of the football team is not good and as each of these games get away from us (what is it know....4 in the last 2 seasons) the worse it is going to get.

We are about to get screwed so badly. Pittsburgh right now is having flooding, with more rain forecast. If this storm looks like it's going to get anywhere close to Pitt so that it can dump lots more rain, I suspect they will want to cancel the game. Now for the bad news, Pitt has the same open date we do. Who wants to bet the ACC tries to make us reschedule the game with Pitt on Oct 20 and then play VT on the road 4 days later?

Our magic worked against the dwags in the NCG. Remember when we all changed our avatars? Could the magic we saw Saturday be the price we had to pay for that?

Now you're thinking.

We need a resident expert in the functionality of Black Magic to speak up, and describe the sacrifices and exchanges that must be made when entering into pacts with dark gods. That way we can better identify whether the exchange is worth it, from a win/loss perspective, and exactly how Stingtalk can participate to flip the script on the hex.

Any wiccans around here? I know that's not technically 'black' magic, but it's founded on parallel traditions, so they might have some insight.

Clemson played a well prepared team full of top 20 recruiting classes and didn't look like clowns.

Georgia Tech did the opposite of that.

Stats can mislead you.
Also, a very tough place to play. When you play there you win if you can and get out of there.

You need to summon @ThisIsAtlanta or @rosebud.

If we're going to work the avatar spell on GT, it'll be very hard. To appeal to the God Of This Age, you need something powerful and something beautiful to elevate above all other things. I don't think the GT logo is going to cut it. We might have to shop Paul Johnson's pissed off face onto everything for the powerful part. I'm not sure what we do for beauty, in that scenario.
