Watching GT Football

Actually, he's right.

Explain how practicing against the run and a cut blocking OL teaches your DBs to tackle in space, your DL pass rush techniques, any route by a TE (we don’t have one and we constantly bitch about no covering TE’s) or your LBs to cover routes? Not to mention the impact on recruiting adequate talent who don’t want to practice 75% of their time on cutblocks and option defense that will do nothing to prepare them for the NFL.

I honestly want to know. Both of you offered “it’s a load of crap and bullshit” but tell me why. I explained why I think what I have denied for years is finally clear for me.

Where was pass coverage of a TE a problem in the game? You realize we've beaten teams like Miami, UGAg, Clemson, every team in the Atlantic is our bitch other than Clemson and CPJ is 4-6 there. Stop your crybabying already and go away for 8 more years and try to grow a set of nuts while you're there

Every team uses cut blocks. No team exclusively uses cut block, including GT. Tackling in space includes tackling runners, not just pass receivers. GT passes and uses typical pass blocking techniques. In practice, plays are called that will emphasize what the coaches want to work on. Again, it's fundamental football, nothing unusual; learning the fundamentals well is an asset for the NFL. Saying 'no one wants to play for GT because of the TO" is simply not true. Sure, there's some recruits that aren't interested, but far, far more aren't interested in GT because of calculus, studying and limited curriculum.

And when preparing for a specific game, there's a bunch of players, red shirts, walkons, etc. that actually forms a team that uses the opposing team's techniques. Have you never heard of the scout team?

How do you think UGA's defense prepares for a pass happy team while they run the ball damn near as much as we do?

Still didn’t address everything else. You can’t defend it so you tell me to go away. You live in denial and you have the gall to tell me to grow a set? At least I’m honest with myself and the reality of what outside fanbases have said for years.

The reality is you showed up here after a loss after contributing nothing for 8 years. Where were you in 2014? Brooding?

Bullshit. That’s a buttload of crap. The option is basic football, blocking and running, not a “gimmick” as some would like to say. If you can defense the option, basically assignments, you can defense anything.

If you can defense the option, you probably suck at defending the pass and rushing the QB, since they are 2 almost-opposing types of D. The successful Option defense is one that reacts well to developing plays. A Passing D has to take initiative to succeed by pressuring the QB and blanket coverage.

The scout team is only used during the season. Not during either camp. So essentially all spring and fall scrimmage is against the option. Also do you think going against our scout team for conventional offense is a proper look? I don’t. Nearly 90% of our defenses live practice in fall and spring scrimmage is against an offense that employs techniques we see maybe 25% from the opponents on our schedule. You can’t possible tell me that doesn’t have an impact.

Your UGA comment is dumb as hell. They pass plenty and are way more effective at it than us. And our routes are very much not the same.

Your comment does nothing to convince me otherwise.

meh, it's all the Scheme Lover crowd's got right now - personal insults.

I realize that. I’m done with responding to them. I’ve said my thoughts and I think based on years of trends that I have concluded correctly and accepted what others have said for years. If we don’t score some sort of points every drive then we will struggle. That’s just the formula it is.

it's interesting that, over the years, whenever anyone dares to point out a negative aspect to the CPJ scheme, it's always met with personal criticism and playground-type insults by the Scheme lovers.

It's also telling. When all else fails, shoot the messenger!

So what about your name calling and personal insults? Not OK when the shoe is on the other foot?

You've made up your mind to be wrong, obviously.

Check this out (hint: look down at #120).

Lol still can’t defend actual analysis so you go to this. What is this? Elementary school?
You showed up after 8 years to troll only. So öööö off. I'd take you seriously if you were coit or Crew or Rules or any number of posters. You are merely on here flaming.

"i don't understand things so do nothing"

I apologize to TIA and owe him a better response. I know it's not magic, but it's something we don't understand. When 'it' transcends decades, players, coaches, schemes, opponents, 'it' is not easy to identify. My point is that what we are putting on the field right this moment does not have 'it'. We had 'it' not long ago after having lost 'it' for a few years when we had 'it' before. Sure we need to tweak things, if for no other reason than to make us feel better. This is the most frustrating time. We can almost taste 'it' because 'it' is so close. When we get 'it', we'll be hard to beat. In 1998, it was "sack, scoop, and score" in 6 straight games. In 1989, it was Sean Jones breaking loose for a late TD against MD to break the streak. In 2001 it was Godsey coming off the bench to throw a late TD against UCF. In 2014, it was the GSU 'fumble' in the 4th. In 2008, it was Shaw filling in for Nesbitt and destroying Miss St. PJ has shown us twice that he can find it.

Thanks for your willingness to engage past my curt summary of your previous post. I think I owe you a apology for that as well. While I do respect that this position isn't something irrational like actually believing in a black magic curse that governs the success of 85 kids playing a game, this explanation of it unfortunately doesn't materially change my position all that much. Even ignoring that in order to hold this view, we have to suspend the idea that we do or even can understand what makes winning teams (which is not something I'm really willing to do at this point), if you believe that this "it" factor transcends decades, players, coaches, schemes, and opponents, then it isn't exactly a very strong position to hold against making changes. "It", being intrinsic to perhaps the school or maybe even the game itself in this view, will appear from time to time as the wheel turns more or less regardless of who is at the top, right?

Our magic worked against the dwags in the NCG. Remember when we all changed our avatars? Could the magic we saw Saturday be the price we had to pay for that?
