We gotta come together

Re: I like the George reference...

For all the knocks on George's character I still think fondly of him. I specifically remember a simple unifying slogan George came out with that "delivered" us from Satan. "Back to the Basics". He said the game is simply about blocking and tackling and we were gonna start with the fundamentals. It was so simple and easy to rally around. I think the dynamics that are lacking(we seem to block and tackle well) may be different but in the same vain, the idea of a simple thought that can be our unifying call to arms would be refreshing. Emotion, passion in a coache's voice, a pulse maybe? I know George could be kinda dry, but, understanding his roots you could see the fire in his Irish blood when he cracked a sly smile. Those were some PROUD years when the lickers were hating us and hated our HC for sure!!
I would love to see Edsall but I see many "who are in the know" alluding to Muschamp, which puzzles me, him being a mutt and all. I"m sure he'd win me over if he's won others as well.
Go Jackets!!

What was Jim Donnan's record at Uga when dooley dropped the ax?

Will also had numerous chances to go back to UGA but turned it down. I'm not saying its definite just speculating with you guys.

lol

i dont want an ex-bulldog as coach

It's hard to conceive that in all of America the best fit for COACH AT GEORGIA TECH IS A BULLDOG! Wow, do we EVEN have to entertain that as a possibility? Pride, folks - have some pride.

An ex-UGA player as the head football coach at Georgia Freakin Tech - excuse ArchiTECH while he/she goes to cut his/her wrists.

Damn.

love,
ArchiTECH

no clue about Donnan....My dream would be return of Edsall as HC and things blowing up at Duke and REdsall pulling Roof and Spencer back here to help out and retaining the best of what we have (namely Tenuta) already as well. That would be a staff of motivators my friend....Is that too much to ask?

Nothing wrong with dreamin, it's about all we have left.....

Will Muschamp has never been a head coach, never coached at GT, and went to UGA. those three things make me emphatically argue him being our next head coach. We have been down the ex-UGA coach road before with Bill Lewis, and he had been a head coach at East Carolina prior to his arrival at GT.

Randy Edsall has been at GT, and built a program from the ground up. Despite their recent loss to West Virginia (a mouch more talented team), he remains as solid of a candidate as we have had. Having been at GT means a lot and I think any outsider who just comes in realized that GT isnt your run of the mill SEC school. it takes a special breed to succeed here. I do nto believe one can have the disdain for UGA required if they played football there. I was speaking to an old football player's brother during the uGA game Saturday. His brother, Goose Godsey former QB, is QB coach at UCF. Despite the fact that they do not play UGA, Coach O'Leary does not allow RED to be worn in the football office. That isnt because they have a rival that wears RED, it is because he doesn't like UGA still. That is what this rivalry needs and I do not see a UGA alum providing that level of "hate."

We need a coach that can take a lower talent, low depth team and beat a perennial top 5 - 10 UGA team that is bigger, faster, and deeper.
We must get that guy.

If he wins, I don't care where he comes from and neither should you.

. Yet they thought Bill Lewis was someone who could take the program to the next level. Afterall, he was a "Tech man" and understood the program. Haven't we been down this road before. Lets not limit ourselves over stupid parameters.

Lewis coached at georgia before being HC at ECU.

Still, I have no problem with Muschamp.

Hate to break this to you 56, but its a very real possiblity.

Through out the process if we were going to let Chan go then Randy was going to be my favorite as a successor. I really like Randy as a person and coach. I will support Dan in whatever he chooses though.

Y'all are all kicked in the head.

"Save us D-Rad!" His pick will be just fine. WHAT!?

Give it a couple days to sink in.

You guys are nutts.

Let's pretend for a brief second that in DRAd's eyes, Will Muschamp is the best coach we can hire at GT. Not saying he is, but lets say that DRAd thinks this guy is the real deal and the best person to hire. If he doesn't hire him based on where he went to school, then WTF are we doing with an AD at all?

If you worked for me and your responsiblity is to make the best managerial decisions for my company and you hire the 2nd best person you could for a job, then you'd be out on your ass pretty fast. I'd fire the crap out of you.

All that aside, it means that Muschamp would have to be the best candidate for the GT job, and I think he's in serious contention.

1.) Go look at the prior coaching jobs of the head coaches of the top 5 teams in the country. Let me know which one had prior head coaching experience before he became that teams head coach.

2.) Bill Lewis coached at GT before he coached at UGA, and then he came to GT again as head coach. Bil Lewis was considered a "Tech man" very much so when he was hired and also was a head coach at a a small mid major before he came to Tech. Kind of like Edsall.

Like I said, if I hired you to make good decisions and you hire the 2nd best person you could, then I'd fire you. Its really that simple. I like the idea of having a young, spirited, in your face head coach. That sells. Now whether or not he can coach, I'm not the judge, but his defenses are pretty damn nasty.
