$$$$$$$That would be a disaster. Rivalry is what makes college football fun. Why would we dump all of our regional rivals to fly to every game?

Because the SEC fans are white trash, and the Big 10 fans are my "good" neighbors? That would be a disaster. Rivalry is what makes college football fun. Why would we dump all of our regional rivals to fly to every game?
It's also a win in that I doubt he takes the job unless Cabrera sells him on future investments from the University side. Maybe I'm dreaming but this could be a very good sign of things to come.I don't know a lot about ADs or anything, but from the perspective of a fan - this is a great hire. This hire tells me Cabrera's words weren't just lip service. This seems like a guy who could bring Tech to the next level. Now, how long can we keep him?
Look at his background. He is.Sure; but also a program that has zero financial difficulties. Let's hope that he's a top finance guy as well
Unless we want to be rivals with GSU (both of them) we need to exit the ACC ASAP.That would be a disaster. Rivalry is what makes college football fun. Why would we dump all of our regional rivals to fly to every game?
Its probably a pretty enticing job for a new AD, he likely will get to make HC hires for our 3 biggest programs in the next couple years. It's also a win in that I doubt he takes the job unless Cabrera sells him on future investments from the University side. Hopefully we've earned enough goodwill from the Mississippi schools since we've scheduled games with them over the past few years to atone for Bobby Dodd's sins of the past. If we were to approach the SEC like Texas and Oklahoma, would they be more receptive to inviting us back this time?Money follows engagement. Engagement follows interest. Rivals are probably the biggest driver of interest.
Do you think UF would dump the annual UGA game to play OSU every year?
Would Bama drop the iron bowl to play ND every year?
Should we drop COFH or CU to play PSU or USC?
I'd rather play auburn, bama, UF, UT.
Cabrera needs to start pitching in to get GT some athletic money. That was quick. Cabrera is on a mission.

Money follows TV contracts.
And what are those TV contracts based on? Fan engagement.

I have the same line of thinking. Let's hope we all remember today as the day Tech athletics turned it all around. It's also a win in that I doubt he takes the job unless Cabrera sells him on future investments from the University side. Usually it's done at the conference level, not the school level.
