Welcome AD J Batt

Depends on how many more years we have left on paying off the stadium renovations. I know that the lingering debt on it was a huge financial drain that has plagued the GTAA for years. Once we get that put behind us, I think we can come close to meeting that number.

Can TStans Edge Center $$$ be redistributed now that he’s no longer here?

Don't know much about the new AD, but please do not bring O'Brien in here. Bryce Young has made him look good as OC, when Young was out they looked very beatable. O'Brien has been calling plays with Alabama talent, his stint with the Texans did not impress, and being stable manager at Penn State did not prove he could either build a program or develop less than five star talent. We have a chance to get this right, and hiring O'Brien would not be getting it right.

Not even Alabama fans are impressed with him. They're pretty vocal so maybe Batt knows this too

Yes, I think O'Brien would be another "Chan" hire. He is competent, and we will probably be slightly above average most years (6-8 wins per year most years), but I would be extremely surprised if he could provide GT special years with his track record.

I hope our new AD hires someone who is still early in their HC career, but who has already shown a proven ability to get more out of the talent he has than maybe the "stars" indicated.

The Texas game should not have been close, and his play calling in that game was very, very suspect.

I'd assume they do research and present a menu of candidates based on the needs of the client. Then facilitate the interview process and contract negotiations. Am I wrong?

I understand they don't make the specific pick for us per se, but I don't trust their work being mostly UGA graduates.
We can order off the menu. They don't find all the candidates. They present some of them, some of them we target ourselves, but they handle the legwork and the back-channel discussions. That is their main function.

I think Brent Key & Bill O'Brien are at the top of the list (Bama Ties)

If they operate like executive firms in the private sector then I am sure there are a lot of simultaneous conversations happening at the same time. These things typically move fast in the private sector and people are in various stages of the interview process at the same time. There’s usually a very small number that get targeted right away and fast tracked for phone calls/office interviews while the rest are being screened out. I imagine in a world where there is a much higher demand for AD jobs than there are openings that it is not difficult to get things moving quickly with good matches.

assume that ship has sailed, but lets hope he is on the phone with the B1G already
I don’t think the SEC ship has sailed at all. If this guy gets Tech athletics straightened out, attendance picks up, and the football team is a winner, I can see the SEC taking Tech just to keep the B10 out of Atlanta. I know UGA has a big Atlanta presence but the SEC may not want the B10 in Atlanta at all. Plus if the SEC adds Tech, FSU, and Clemson, that will make those three in state rival games more interesting and probably more competitive. The kids we lose to ND or Stanford just might find playing in the SEC a little more enticing. I think it would certainly help Tech in recruiting the Atlanta area.

Some of y'all might be too young to remember but O'Brien sucked as an OC at Tech. At least compared to what we were used to with Fridge.
