We've been bad enough for long enough that I think they genuinely want us to be a real program again. It's always fun to pound your in-state rival for a few years when they're down, but no one wants them to literally just disintegrate as a program. Competitive in-state games have a spice to them that you can't get anywhere else
This is a fact worth remembering. They will still be acting like this after we've started the new era with 3IAR2 and nobody takes them seriously anymore. They are too stupid to be listened to or acknowledged even, and especially, less than a year after their uncorrected season. Their clock is ticking and whether they know it or not is immaterial.

I think the fact that you are reaching over to a basketball hire, in totally incomparable circumstances, for comparison should tell you something.
