We're not going to have a passing game this year

I don't know if our passing game is going to suck or not but I think I know this much. If we use the passing game to cover up shortcomings in the running game then I can assure you that our passing game will suck. Our passing game is predicated on and wholly dependent on success in rushing the football.

So this idea that we can develop a passing game independent of being set up by the running game is a non-starter as long as CPJ is the coach. CPJ uses the passing game to 'punish' defenses who cheat up on the run. If the running game isn't working, our offense isn't geared to switch to a 'passing offense.'

This does not apply in obvious passing situations. If we are behind by two or more scores late in the game or we're in the 2 minute drill, we need to be able to competently execute the passing game even when the opponent is expecting the pass.
