What about Jim Grobe?

Possibility of making the "lists" but not a top 3

Are u serious?? Please tell me that u are, and that u are legit. That would make my year if we could land Norm Chow, I think I just felt..nevermind. Who cares, just the thought of the fact that there is a slight possibility that he is even the slightest bit interested would make my year.

Just so u know, I'm a HUGE Norm Chow guy. Offensive GENIUS!

Re: So long as we are throwing out names...Houston Nutt?

He's one of the most unethical pieces of **** that it is the coachng ranks. If Arkansas fans can't take it, do you think GT fans could?

What has he done? I've heard grumblings of 'off the field issues' and I know the stud QB transferred last year but don't know much beyond that.

Based on his texting, he is a little Clinton-like. Not that I hate Clinton, he's a heckuva leader but Nutt is not liked by his own so my guess is he wouldn't work here. I bet he wishes he had taken the NEB job now.

Kyle if I told you the "lists" I would have to kill ya:thumbup:

Demjackets, why not Chow? He's a Fridge but in much better health. I'd love the hire just as I would ahve loved the Fridge.

BTW, I think Fridge might leave MD for GT as the program seems stagnant there but I assume his health will cause him to retire soon.

I do like genius coaches and Chow and Fridge both seem to be.

I'll guess Jimbo is on the short list and is very moveable right now for any HC job but especially the GT one. Otherwise, I'm guessing maybe Tiller at Purdue or Charlie Strong. I'd be shocked based on DRad's leadership style and with Hewitt leading the BCA if GT did not strongly consider an African American and Strong would seem to be the most likely candidate.

Do you agree a minority will have a great chance at being hired as the next head coach at GT? BTW, Chow is considered a minority.

I'm interested to hear the answer to this too. He's never had an actual HC job. So he should be interested in GT if that's what he wants.

If he can recruit and not end up a great coach with poor recruits like Fridge, he would certainly be first on my list.

He does indeed want a HC job.

From wikipedia: "In addition to Stanford, Chow has been officially interviewed for the head coaching jobs with the NFL's Arizona Cardinals, North Carolina State University, the University of Kentucky and the University of Hawaii."

Houston Nutt?

Nah, I'll pass.

Also, they're having a terrible year this year.

Also, they're worse at passing than we are.

Whats so great about Jimbo?

I haven't seen anything so great about FSU's offense this year; I'm just wondering why Jimbo is such a hot candidate (?).

Paul Johnson looks almost like a perfect fit, for all reasons mentioned

If we were to change coaches, then you have to give the head job to Tenuta. How could we make the same mistake twice?

We could certainly get Grobe, but it would mean taking his entire staff on and ditching our entire staff, and it would also mean waiting until after the bowl season.

What's Wake's total coaching salary right now compared to ours?

I'm not sure we could get Grobe. He has a pretty good job right now. Alabama couldn't even tempt him into an interview with all the cash they were throwing around.

I would love to have Grobe as a coach though.

Paul Johnson is still on the top of my list, but I have a very strong feeling it is going to end up being John Tenuta.

From what I've read, I hope this isn't the case. I think it would be a major mistake to hand the job to the guy at season's end. If Tenuta is going to be considered, it would make more sense to give him an interim role first and see how he handles it.

If there is a coaching change, we (the fans) need to be prepared to lose most (if not all) of the current coaching staff. The incoming HC should be given the autonomy to make his own decisions - if not, then it's a marriage doomed to failure anyway.

One exception - if the incoming HC is from the present staff.

I don't think there's any way we could get Grobe. He loves Wake Forest and they will give him anything he wants. He turned AL down cold and rumors had Nebraska calling bu the wasn't interested. If anyone is a lock, I think he's a lock to stay at Wake.

I agree with you. I'd love to see Tenuta retained if possible but not as a new HC. I won't try to predict whether or not he'd be successful, but I know I'd prefer someone with D-1 HC experience.

Performance as an interim coach doesn't count for much either, in my opinion. The whole psyche of the team would play too much of a factor in that short stretch of games.
