What about Jim Grobe?

I have to believe that with as much autonomy as Tenuta gets with the D, he's been pretty instrumental in picking the D position coaches. I also have to believe that he likes the job our recruiting guys are doing.

There some truth to that; but when some assistant that was expecting to be promoted to DC gets passed over...you may see some people making moves. There's never any guarantee how things are going to play out once you make a big organization change. The recruiting guys may or may not want to work for Tenuta instead of with him for instance (I have no insight into that, just speculating). I think the odds are good that most of the defensive staff stays on board in that scenario. I wouldn't be as confident about anyone else.

He has been there two more seasons than Chan. Next year is the year for Chan, right?

That's not what I said, Kyle.

I was simply pointing out that a) Grobe took 7 years for it to "click", and b) we would likely suffer through a similar downturn should we change coaches.

Truth is, I'm not Chan's biggest fan either, but I also realize he knows more than I do about football and our team, so I don't second guess him. I also believe that as our coach he deserves our support.

GO JACKETS!...Mike

Hey, I can't sing worth a damn, but I can tell you when a singer sounds like a toad.

Hey, just because something is true doesn't mean you have to say it a thousand times over and over.

Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain -- and most fools do.

Why not enjoy the game for what it is? Support our players and coaches on and off the field, as well as from behind your keyboard -- or at least spend as much time on the positive as you do on the negative.

I know there's a good bunger henry just waiting to come out. You can do it.

The reasons Grobe did not show much interest in Bama could be some of the reasons he might be interested in a school like GT.

Don't know why we would assume we would lose the RC is ccg is replaced.

A new coach might make the RC's job easier.

I know that's not what you said. It wasn't really a response to your argument. I agree with you.

There is no reason to think that statement is true. It took Grobe a while because Wake was truly a terrible program when he took over. There is absolutely no correlation with Tech today in what he found in Winston Salem when he arrived.

You guys are loco. No major coaching candidate would consider the GT job after we play in a bowl. Look how hard it was for Alabama and we simply don't have the cache that they do. If we end up 8-5 and fire our coach, we'll end up with another B--- L----. Paul Johnson and Grobe know that expecting 9+ wins per year at GT over a long period of time is almost impossible given the academic requirements for entrance and eligibility.

And shoot whoever recommended Skippy Holtz, that would be STUPID. Noone named Holtz has ever had a successful player who didn't have Underwater Basketweaving on their transcript and GT's Aquatic Textiles department was abandoned long ago.

No, Alabama could have hired any number of good coaches, but they wanted the biggest name they could get. That's what took them so long.

Whoever said we expected 9 wins a season? We just expect you do something more than 7-5 with no wins over UGA after 6 years here.

Zero wins over UGA is really the driving factor for why so many people hate Chan.

After all is said and done, I expect Chan to stay here for another four or five years. Whether you like him or not we will win 7-8 games, play UGA close, and go to the "What's for Dinner?" Bowl. One thing to keep in mind. After every coaching change since Dodd, we have had several awful years following the change.

So? Just sometimes we have a bad couple of years after a coaching change doesn't mean it's written in stone. Plus, there's no way DRad can put up with 7 wins and a loss to ugag much longer, I don't care how many bowl games we go to in a row.

Whoever mentioned Houston Nutt needs to let that just quietly slip away and maybe no one will notice you did it. If you don't like our QB play the last 5 years then I don't think Nutt is going to be your guy. Nutt also has integrity similar to Bill Clinton's (great leader my ass).

What do you guys think of the talk (and inertia) regarding the GTAA giving up it's autonomy to the Board of Regents?

ArchiTECH is no poli-scientist, but doesn't that put Board of Regents folks (read "U(sic)GA grads and supporters) generally in charge of who coaches football at the Flats.

The money Tech and the GTAA save in turning over control to the BOR will be (in ArchiTECH's humble opinion) is potentially disastrous to Tech athletics and a VERY piss poor way to save money. Who do you think UGA and the UGA Board of Regents would like as Tech's football coach? Do you think the BOR will be supportive of firing a 7-5 coach at Tech? I think they will like St. Richt at the their shrine and CCG at our house.

love,
ArchiTECH

I am just curious what he is supposed to of done. I've heard rumors of 'off the field' issues but never hear what they actualy were.

I've think he has done one hell of a coaching job at Arkansas. To compete in the SEC, with the success he has in Arkansas is impressive. That state only produces about 12 div 1 athletes per year.

By the way, people used to say similar things about Billy Donavan - that he didn't have character and their were inuendos recarding his recruiting tactics. I remember lots of Tech fans saying no way would they want him as our coach when we were replacing Bobby. It's funny you don't hear any character issues any more.
