If you lose your conference, you shouldn't get in over a conference champ. Period. Not with only 4 teams in the playoff. If you want teams like Bama to still have a shot, then expand the playoff to 8 or 16.

This. No conference should get two. And ND should be made to join.

I could go with that, but the SEC would have 3 minimum every year.

Auburn beating Georgia significantly helps Alabama provided they can beat Auburn 2 weeks later. Georgia is out with another loss. Period. That South Carolina loss is by far the worst loss of any current one loss team.
 
Bama wins out, LSU wins out but loses SECCG to UGA who won out. 2 SEC teams 11-1 (Dawgs 12-1). Only undefeated team is Clemson. Ohio St 11-1, lost to MN in B10CG who is 12-1.

Who gets in?

Keep in mind UGA lost to a mediocre South Carolina team.
 
Bama has an easy schedule, they have been there so many times, other 1 loss conference champions get preference. Out! If they get in, then it must be as #4 seed and play LSU.

Clemson could have one of the longest win streaks in history. That matters to me. Move them up.

It all depends on the new committee.

You are probably right but you aren't factoring in how many OSU guys could be declared ineligible by then. I mean, it is a whole month away.

I fear, using your scenario, that it would actually almost always be top 4 conference champs, 1 at large, and n.d.
 
I soooo want UGA to have to go play WAKE FOREST in a bowl game! All those aspirations of a 2019 Natty come crashing down, and they're battling Big, Bad WAKE FOREST for a bowl game! Lol.. And I'd pay $1000 to see WF beat them!
 
Love to see what would happen to UGAg with losses to Auburn and Tech and then a win against LSU in the SECCG. Not pulling for the Dwags, but it would be interesting.
 
What would happen if we somehow gave ga their second loss, then ga beats LSU by 31 points in the SECCG?

They couldn’t take a team with two losses to teams with losing records, so no ga.

They couldn’t take a team that lost their conf CG by 31 points, so no LSU.

They couldn’t take a team that played a weak schedule and lost at home to a team that got blown out in their conf champ game, so no Bama.

Boy, I want to see the PAUL FINEBAUM show the day after they announce no SEC team got in, and the four playoff teams are Clemson, Minnesota, Utah and Baylor.

You can have that now with 4 by just requiring you to win your conference to be eligible. Then the regular season still matters, including out-of-conference games, because you don't want to be the first one left out. Lower leagues have a chance and computers could sort that out like the old BCS formula. Just take the top 4 conference champions from the list.

Controlling the revenue stream is the only reason this abominable committee hasn't done that.
