When did PJ lose this team?

If it starts at the top, where did PJ go wrong?

I think I have an answer but would like yours.

I still think Shaq Mason saved Sewak's job and it is time to cut him lose.

We are so disorganized. Hell, even the bus for the Jacket walk just öööö shows up whenever the hell it wants. GOL may have been an asshole, but öööö he was a stickler for organization and running a tight ship. We look like the bad news bears nowadays.

Sewak is a problem clearly to me.

I'm just confused about this line altogether. Shaq couldn't be the entire answer to their struggles, he wasn't blocking 4 people at once last year. Wth happened to the rest of these guys?

Losing to 1 loss Pitt on a 56 yard field goal with ~ a minute to play after putting up 500 yds of offense does not equate to 'losing the team'. Getting smoked by Pitt would look more like losing the team. I think it's comical that you think no one here knows that you just sit around waiting for losses so you can get in here and throw shade at CPJ. Did he slight you personally somewhere in your life or something?

And way to kick off a great thread with "I think I have an opinion but you go first".

If you're going to make a thread, say something. "Here's a thread, you guys talk and then maybe I'll tell you the reason I made the thread" is stupid and pointless.

So either explain to us how Johnson has "lost" his team or just log-off and go do something/anything else.

The guys are clearly still playing hard, up to the end of every game. We have 2-3 close games that couldve gone our way. Oh and before the "CPJ blames everyone but himself" crowd shows up:

“It’s really frustrating,” Johnson said. “The kids are playing hard. It’s not effort. Right now, we’ve got to make one more play. We’re not good enough to make one more play... There’s some personal accountability that goes in that. I’m ultimately responsible..."

I don't think he's lost the team. In addition to the execution, we just can't get a single break. Last season, we got all the breaks.

Whoa! FatJacket knows what's wrong!?! I'm going to F5 this thread every 7 seconds until the answer is revealed!

eff off

I don't even think it's that. Last season we just played well enough to overcome the breaks that didn't go our way. Think about the breaks Georgia caught against us last year, the help they got from poor officiating. But we went back out after all of them, lined up and played hard and played well.

I believe Shaq "QB'ed" the OL last year and really helped to make sure we adjusted appropriately to shifting fronts as well as being a strong on field coach. I honestly think when we know who to block we look okay, but once we get confused we either block the wrong person or are a half-step slow while we think about it. Half a step is enough at this level for somebody to just blow right by you.

I also thinking we are tipping the snap count and the play direction somehow which are both coaching issues.

My answer is to hire Spurrier to be the OC now that he's available! He doesn't want the responsibility of the whole shebang but bet he would love running the offense.

We made a lot of our breaks last year. We're making no breaks this year.

PJ hasn't lost this team. They're still playing hard. Playing well or playing smart? Eh, not so much.

If you rewatch the Orange Bowl, it isn't like we executed perfectly on every play. Our first play from scrimmage was stopped in the backfield. Two of the TD's were long plays, Days and Waller. Another TD was JT making a move when he could have been tackled in the backfield.

If a mostly upperclassmen OL is making basic assignment mistakes, either this year or last year, then that's on Sewak. I don't think Burden, Devine, Joe, etc. are all phoning it in.

Sewak has been here since the beginning. CPJ has changed DCs 3 times. Appears sewak is doing exactly what CPJ wants him to do. And the way we are taught to block is crap. Look at the pressure other teams put on us and we NEVER have a pass rush.

OP mentioned almost 500 yards of O vs Pitt. Big darn deal. I would rather get 80 yards of O and win the game any day. Paul, at times, seems as if O stats are the be all / end all. But I know he wants to win.

I just now have to believe our O scheme has started to hamper our D efforts as regard to game prep, due to the way all our players are taught the TO and then expected to replicate our opponents O in practice.

Well, all the talk and theories don't matter. Just look at our records since 2008. 2-5 vs um, vt, ugag. Now lost 2iar to puke & unc. Decent vs cu & FSU (2 wins vs over the hill Bowden)

Oh well, hope CPJ can turn it around, coz he is going nowhere unless he wants to. Next year we lose a lot on D, lose a lot on O line. Don't know if it will matter or not. Just have to play the games.

We are all frustrated and I do not see anything, short or long term, changing.

But we can beat ugag this year.

Well said. And don't worry, none of the regulars here give a öööö what FatJacket says.

This is a crock and I don't understand why people keep saying it.

I really think you're missing the point there. Nobody is saying "Better to gain a bunch of yards in a loss than to win ugly." Nobody would say that.

In January. When he signed his $11 million contract extension. What motivation does he have to work hard?

You'd think the GTAA would learn after Hewitt, but apparently not.
