Where is Dems?

Just because Gailey recruited for an outdated offense does not mean that we should hire a coach that can optimize it.

Johnson saying that he would run a different offense if he had the personnel is like a gay guy saying he would go straight if he could only find the right woman.

Wake up people...we fired Gailey because our passing game sucked... and you want to hire another guy who cannot coach the passing game? That is the triumph of hope over experience, I suppose.

Johnson is clearly an emotional favorite, but not a rational one. Like I said, that is mistake that Radakovich will not make.

You have no clue what you are talking about. You better hope Johnson doesn't go to Duke and starts beating us year in and year out. That would be a major disappointment. You are getting a proven winner in Johnson and a wildcard in Muschamp. Period!!!

Jacketup,

You mean like how Wake Forest hired a service-academy triple option coach out of Ohio, and is now in the all time golden era of Wake football with considerably less raw talent than we have?

Sorry, not buying it.

What do you mean exactly? who is the "He" you are talking about dividing it more?

It would seem to be easy to identify, He who is in charge. DRAD is the one, who is in charge, and should be informed in private so the problem can be handled in a better way. Not on a public forum where only confusion can result.

I'll jump in also. PJ is the best available coach bar none. (Hatch may be better but his track record is short) Nebraska will regret Pellini, PJ would win 10 a year there. SMU has no finincial limits and he's their top choice. Interestingly enough, Gailey is right behind him in SMU's mind. And Orsini is very highly regarded. So if he thinks PJ is the best coach available, I agree. And if he thinks PJ is better than Gailey, anyone who says there are no better candidates mentioned than CCG needs to explain why they know football...

PJ is making big money. He has a big money offer. But he wants to come to GT more than anything. Why?

I think that his experience at GSU showed him that he can win a div 1 mnc with GT. I agree. And I think that opportunity is worth more to him than a few cool million.

Gailey was fired because his passing offense was so bad. Hiring the coach with the 119th rated passing offense out of 119 teams is not the solution.

Sure, he would make Duke more competitive, but who wouldn't? That is not much of an argument.

However, there is no reason to believe that he could take GT to the next level.

But you PJ fans are entitled to your opinion. Fortunately, Radakovich is doing the hiring and he knows better than to hire Paul Johnson.

For the record, Western Kentucky joined Division 1-A to make it 120 teams. :)

But he wants to come to GT more than anything.

I know I have missed a few Insiders discussions, but how do you know this is true?

I can't find it but I could've sworn someone posted on this board a month or so back that PJ would never come to Tech and when he was at GSU he had a less than cordial relationship with us.

By the way, Paul Johnson has NO experience coaching a team in a BCS conference. None. Not even as an assistant.

So much for the "proven winner" argument. Proven perhaps, but not where it counts.

Muschamp has more experience than that.

The news about the asst. coaches is more concerning to me as it relates to recruiting than it does to a bowl that hasn't even been named yet with a HC that is soon to be named.

And it sounds like y'all have forgotten Tracy Ham. He threw for 5,000 yards out of that triple option. I can't think of a better offense for a player like Nesbitt...not to mention that both Dwyer and White are going to need their touches next year, and one likes running outside, while the other is pretty damn good hitting quick inside holes.

In addition to Georgia Southern's 62-10 mark, the Eagles scored 2,855 points (39.7 points per game), picked up 25,941 rushing yards (360.3 yards per game), 7,816 passing yards (108.6 yards per game) and 33,757 total yards (468.8 yards per game). GSU scored 380 touchdowns in the Johnson Era, an average of 5.3 per game. The Eagles' scoring margin under Johnson was +21.5 (39.7-18.5).

I don't know about any of you, but 2nd or 3rd and short regularly and feeling confident that you can make it would be damn exciting to me after what we've just been through.

Hey, don't knock WKU. The way they rolled up 87 points on a Division III school back in September was impressive. Also, their women's teams are known as the "Lady Toppers," which I think is dirty and awesome.

Edit: I apologize for my error. The team they put 87 points on, West Virginia Tech, is not D-III. It's in the NAIA, which is worse... wow.

:laugher: I know a guy who plays for them.

Who said Navy's passing offense is "bad"?

They don't get a lot of yards, yes, but when you run for 357 yards per game you don't really ever need to throw the ball. And in terms of pass efficiency, they were a hell of a lot better than us, that's for sure.

Johnson has also said if he had the personnel to pass more he probably would. But, hey, whatever, let's just say that because he doesn't drop the best rushing offense in the country to pass more even though he doesn't have the personnel that's going to carry over here.

I am confident whatever system he were to implement here it would suit our personnel. Our personnel do not suit Navy's offense, so he would adapt. At least, if he wanted to stay here long.

qft. I can't make a better argument than that.
