Whisenhunt

I always thought Whisenhunt would do better than Gailey here. Like corndog said...he really had some of the league’s worst QB’s to work with during those down years.

NOBODY wins in the NFL with bad QB play unless you’re the 2002 Baltimore Ravens.

Potentially, with the right staff, he could be good. I’m concerned about the lack of collegiate experience. Total unknown as a recruiter.

Absent a commitment from the school to support the program better, feels like he’d be Gailey 2.0

Is the GTAA/prez Bud stepping up with resources and the funds to hire a top notch staff?

Most of the recruiting is done by assistants, not the head coach. The head coach is the closer, but the relationships are built with the assistants. I just wish we'd stash aside $1+ million per year of that fundraising campaign to up the quality of our assistant coaches. Hard to get gourmet results with half a kitchen of Hardees cooks.

CPJ kinda sucked without a good QB. IIWII

(Waiting for EffinDane's CPJ > Saban post)

The difference being that GT is able to sometimes recruit a "good option QB," and Wisenhunt will be looking for a "good Pro QB."

We are dead. The clowns are driving the car. All those fans who have been bitching about the option better start buying blocks of ten seats each to make up for the empty stadium.

öööö Curry. Planted a damn college football team in our backyard.

How do you know what offense he would want to run? How do you know he wouldn't run a shotgun spread option? I doubt he'd call the plays.

TStan better be or else he isn’t that bright.

Regardless of the hire, new coach should get some support financially to not have to go to the scratch and dent section to shop for assistants—definitely not one with no meaningful collegiate coaching experience.

Agreed.

Speaking of which...

I don’t know who we should hire for head coach but I do know this...

WE NEED TO HIRE GIFF SMITH.

F YES.

You have no idea how much that makes me feel better.

I’m in for The Whiz.

Yeah, but we need a HC who knows when he needs to land a Tech Gold helicopter in the endzone of a crowded stadium to make a high school qb the buzz of the town.

Yes. Dark times are nearly upon us...

At least it's just football.

*He* would know schemes more than most college coaches of course. What matters is what players know.

Imparting that knowledge was a big issue Groh had here. In addition to recruiting, you have to manage players aside from "If you don't do this, we'll cut you and sign someone else."
