Why Brent Key should be HC

Brent Key is the guy.. let's try not to eff it up. Sometimes the obvious decision is the right one
The obvious decision? To hire the guy whose OL has been arguably the worst unit on the team for 4 years? Whose only stint as an OC was an abject failure? The guy who has a total of 7 games HC experience?

I’m thrilled with how he had handled the transition, but let’s not get carried away. He’s done enough that he deserves an interview, but his resume is not competitive with some other options. Hell, he was extremely unpopular with most of everyone here only 2 months ago, and he got plenty of hate recently when we looked awful against UVA/FSU/Miami. Let’s not be prisoners of the moment, here.

I believe Batt sees this as well and knows how important the hire is for him and the school.

I agree. But it’s a huge step up for Chadwell in P5. How many great small FB coaches have failed in P5 at programs that’s easier to recruit than GT?
You’re following the Paul Johnson paradigm. He was the exception, rather than the rule imo. GT struck gold with PJ. Unlikely Chadwell is PJ.

it’s a risk. And I’m glad I’m not in charge of taking. It’s going to be hard to explain not hiring a coach that won as much as Key did if your new hire fails.

UGA will be 31-7. But it’s still goIng to be hard to explain a pass on Key who won with backups.

Key secured his job tonight. And it was well earned.

Monkin sounds like cpj. Look what he did for army.

“Being an offensive line coach, he definitely instills a more physical feel of the whole team, and it’s going to be a dogfight,” said White, the defensive end. “If we have to scratch, claw, bite our way out, we’re going to do it. And that’s what I feel like he brings to the table. That’s my guy. He just brings a different energy to the table.”
