Why didn't Gaily go for 2?

Re: Why didn\'t Gaily go for 2?

Here's the deal fools, if we miss we're up 12. FSU only needs 1 td and 2 fgs to win. That's three scores instead of 2 but they don't have to get to the endzone twice. You make a choice depending in that situation and hope for the best. The only way you're wrong is if you lose. If we'd lost 13-12 you jerks would be hollering even louder. We lost because we couldn't block anybody in the second half or get any pressure on Rix. If you can watch that game and all you can do is piss and moan about an extra point you need to get the hell out of here as far as I'm concerned.

Re: Why didn\'t Gaily go for 2?

YES!!! Our guys played their hearts out! Who the hell doesn't think DoakWalker is worth 2 points?!! WE PLAYED GREAT!!

Re: Why didn\'t Gaily go for 2?

Moverof Fridge2 maybe I am missing something here. You state if we go for 2 and make it we would be in overtime. May I am really that stupid. We could be in overtime or we could be headed home. I know what my preference is.

Re: Why didn\'t Gaily go for 2?

I am not kidding. I am sick of seeing little mistakes that wither cost us games or potentially lose us games (Yeah that's right US, got out in 88, season ticket holder since 83).

Exhibit A: Not going for 2

Exhibit 2: you are up by 14 with 47 seconds left with 4 and 14 on your own 6. You punt or take a safety and kick fom the 20. Well guess what, even if the opposition scores a touchdown on the punt return (whcih cant be blocked on a safety kick) they still need another touchdown. Huck Finn (CCG) punts and it was almost blocked.

He is doing a good job as a whole but the little game management (clock) details are going to kill us!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Why didn\'t Gaily go for 2?

GMC, if we don't make it, we don't have a shot at overtime anyways. Yeah I would rather be in overtime than going home.

I hate the pissers and moaners in here after the outcome was decided. As I said before, if you are not a true blue to the end TECH fan, then stay the hell outta here.

As Always....TO HELL WITH GEORGIA!!!!

Re: Why didn\'t Gaily go for 2?

For all of you that are telling me and others to get off the board, I am glad I don't officiate with you. If you can't accept the fact that someone else has an opinion different than yours - you are truly sad. Also criticism of the job you do is part of life. I hear it every Friday night but I don't tell the criticizers to get out. I respect their opinions.

Re: Why didn\'t Gaily go for 2?

O-buzz, I guess since we don't throw rose petals we aren't true Tech fans. The problem with most of OUR fans is they are too forgiving. I guess Cremins should still be around as well!!

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">It is VERY, VERY hard to accept that you don't applaud an effort like tonight's effort against FSU. I think you're a jerk if you don't. And if that hurts your feelings , I sure as hell don't care,

Re: Why didn\'t Gaily go for 2?

Everyone who thinks that 2 point conversion made one difference in the outcome of this game is a damn idiot.

Did you see how much time was left when that happened? GIVE IT A REST.

Speculating that the outcome of the game would've been different because of that decision (ASSUMING we converted it) is absoultely ridiculous.

You want to play the speculation game? Ok, how about this...
I guess you failed to notice the fact that FSU got down to the 20 and chose not to kick a FG with 2 minutes left. I'll speculate that they would've made it. We get the ball back and do nothing. We lose 17-14 using your weak logic.

Better yet, if the refs hadn't made a couple of crucial calls in our favor in the last 2 minutes, the score might've been 21-13 anyway.

So how about you get your head out of your A$$ and realize that our team - the one that practically no one expected to do anything this year - just went toe to toe with one of the best teams IN THE COUNTRY for 60 minutes.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is the closest we've ever come to beating FSU since they've been in the ACC. It was a tremendous effort by Tech all night. I cannot believe you're going to b1tch about that 2 point conversion.

Would I have gone for 2? Hell yes I would've. But did it change the outcome of the game? There is ABSOLUTELY no way to tell.

I felt sick already after the end of the game, but you have definitely made me sicker. Pathetic.

Re: Why didn\'t Gaily go for 2?

MacDaddy,

It has nothing to do with rose petals or being too forgiving. To build up is to edify= to build an edifice. It took thousands alot of time to build the Twin towers. It took a couple of idiots a couple of moments to destroy it. You may not be in the smug group that has attacked this coaching staff from the first moment of their tenure on the Flats but there are a couple of idiots on this board who are determined to tear down our team, finding fault everywhere. If you are in that group, kindly take the others by the hand and take them northeast and join Leghumpers Anonymous. The effort tonight demands encouragement, not finding fault.

Re: Why didn\'t Gaily go for 2?

Belly noone is applauding the effort given by the players more than I am. The line on this game wa 24 points. Our players proved the oddsmakers are totally wrong. It has been a long time since I have seen a GT team give such a superior effort. Too bad the head coach doesn't have the same desire as the players.

Re: Why didn\'t Gaily go for 2?

You are of course assuming that we would make the 2 point conversion, which is a much lower percentage play than kicking the extra point. Hell, if 2 point conversions were easy, we'd NEVER kick the extra point. I mean why have 7 when we can have 8? Maybe Macdaddy can trot on down to coach next week and 'splain that those 2 pointers are automatic.

GMC 68

Where do you think these players got their guts and heart. In every other team in America, it is called "the coaches had them ready to play" but no, too much for you to give him credit. Gailey is a great coah. He hired Tenuta!

Re: Why didn\'t Gaily go for 2?

Let me put this to rest.

Chances are we would have not converted the two-point conversion. Im starting to get used to this 1 TD, 2 FG business.

tech played well though

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">That's right. CCG doesn't want to win. In fact, he wants to lose. He's going to prove to the world that he can lose - that's his goal.

If you don't have the sense to realize the positive difference coaching made in this game, you don't know much about football.
