I can say I haven’t resorted to name calling or bashing of you as an individual. I respect your right to give you undying loyalty to CG. Why can’t you accept the fact that not all of us think he is a good coach?

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">Maybe he gives you too much credit.

What other coach in the country has taken a team that lost 12 key players into such a hostile environment, and come within one point of knocking off one of the best teams in the country?

Maybe you're just one of those people that isn't happy unless you're unhappy.

Re: Why didn\'t Gaily go for 2?

I can accept that you don't think he's a good coach. I can accept it by looking at our last two games and acknowledging that you haven't a clue about college football. Why in the world would ANYBODY not applaud gailey after the last two games? Even if you hate his guts?

Re: Why didn\'t Gaily go for 2?

Belly there is no sense in me even trying to state a position since you simply want to resort to personal attacks.

I am out of this discussion.

Re: Why didn\'t Gaily go for 2?

Yeah, now returning you back to your regularly scheduled topic...

The offense just sputtered in the second half. Despite PJ's 47 yard run to get the TD, I don't think the conversion, if attempted, would have been successful. FSU figured out Ball's favorite passing targets and we had no success pounding the ball up the middle by the goal line.

Again, we didn't make second half adjustments. I didn't disagree with the decision to just go for the extra point at the time because I expected the defense to make a stand. What I didn't expect was seeing our defense allow Rix so much room to scramble.

Re: Why didn\'t Gaily go for 2?

It is great that some fans support CG.

It is great that some don’t support CG.

It is even greater that all support the players.

It is disheartening that GT fans don’t respect one another.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">GMC 68, I didn't mean that as a personal attack, I honor your dedication to GT. But I honestly don't get it; how can you not be proud of Coach Gailey and our team after tonight? The whole country has been talking about FSU "having the swagger back," and all that crap. And little ole Tech, which hasn't beaten them since they came in the league, came in with a 2nd year coach, a freshman QB, a defense seriously reduced by "grade gate", and pushed the sh*thooks around for practically the whole game. I'm proud of our guys, partly because how much heart, talent, pride, and savvy they showed tonight, but also because we're going to beat the hell out of them and Ugag from now on. We're Good!

Okay PJ you nailed me here. That was a poor statement on my part. I was just upset and venting right after the game. I owe an apology to CG. This does not mean I agree with his coaching philosophy. It simply means I was out of line making a vicious and unwarranted personal attack on him.

Re: Why didn\'t Gaily go for 2?

Belly I said I was out of this but your post deserves a response. I was against Coach Gailey’s hiring from day one. I did not think then or do I think now that he is the right person for GT. But that is my humble opinion and not one I am willing to debate with you because we are both hardheaded and are not going to change our minds.

I couldn’t be more proud of the team and the game they played tonight. The defense has been more than a pleasant surprise this year. The defensive line is being out sized by every team we play yet they are a dominant force. Reggie Ball is one of the most exciting players I have seen in college ball in a long time. PJ Daniels is stepping up and doing a super job.

My whole point on going for 2 was that it could have been the difference in the game. To me that is a major coaching mistake. Do we need to dwell on it? No. It is over and can’t be changed. Too many of us are too emotional on both sides of the issue so we need to move on and think about Clemson. I am already looking forward to sitting in my seats and cheering my white and gold. And Belly if I see you I will shake your hand and say lets forget everything else and cheer for our Jackets. There is nothing greater!

Re: Why didn\'t Gaily go for 2?

We're lucky Gailey isn't the type who dwells on the negative. I could see him getting us headed in the right direction, then about year 3 or 4 going somewhere else and saying, "Where were you clods when we were just starting out?"

Folks should remember that a) Tech is not anywhere near the most attractive coaching job in college football and b) the other team has a whole roster of players and coaches who have a plan and are trying to win, too. Sometimes theirs works better.

Who'd you rather have - Gailey or Ty Willingham?
Who'd you rather have - Ball or ND's clueless true freshman backup? Why do you think Ball's here?

Re: Why didn\'t Gaily go for 2?

I'll tell you why we didn't go for 2. Because two point conversions are successful only 38% of the time! The right call in that spot. Great played game, hard fought! The team with more depth won! Plain and simple. As much as it broke my heart, look at Daryl Smith & Keyaron Fox on both of the touchdown drives. They were giving it all they had at that point, yet they were still only able to run at about 3/4 speed. That was the difference in the game.

I'll tell you this, though! I'll take Tech with no spread in next year's game. Any takers?

Did you see how much time was left when that happened? GIVE IT A REST.

Speculating that the outcome of the game would've been different because of that decision (ASSUMING we converted it) is absoultely ridiculous.

You want to play the speculation game? Ok, how about this...
I guess you failed to notice the fact that FSU got down to the 20 and chose not to kick a FG with 2 minutes left. I'll speculate that they would've made it. We get the ball back and do nothing. We lose 17-14 using your weak logic.

Better yet, if the refs hadn't made a couple of crucial calls in our favor in the last 2 minutes, the score might've been 21-13 anyway.

So how about you get your head out of your A$$ and realize that our team - the one that practically no one expected to do anything this year - just went toe to toe with one of the best teams IN THE COUNTRY for 60 minutes.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is the closest we've ever come to beating FSU since they've been in the ACC. It was a tremendous effort by Tech all night. I cannot believe you're going to b1tch about that 2 point conversion.

Would I have gone for 2? Hell yes I would've. But did it change the outcome of the game? There is ABSOLUTELY no way to tell.

I felt sick already after the end of the game, but you have definitely made me sicker. Pathetic.
<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">I will take this really S L O W so you do not spill chili on that seersocker shirt of yours.

Let's see if we had gone for 2 and made it, we wouldn't have gone for it on 4th down and FSU wuouldn;t have had the ball on OUR 20. Had we gone for 2 and didn't make it, the situation is still the same.

Please don't be like CCG, think through the situations before you do something
