WHY is recruiting SO MUCH better this year...?

...so do you think he should have fired our previous recruiting coordinator before landing Calvin Johnson, or after landing him?

Feel free to worm your way out of answering the question.

Any way you slice it Gailey hung on to Wilson and our bizarre recruiting philosophy for too long. Most people could see that it wasn't working 2 years ago. I am glad it's been corrected and the results so far have exceeded my wildest imagination.

I do not accept what has happened over the last 4 years.

It's real, foggy. Gailey ain't going nowhere. If you can't accept that, then follow your own message: "get to hell out of the way."

Stop and think maybe that's why I don't spend about 10 hours to and from BDS any more, maybe that's why I don't donate any more, maybe that's why I don't have season tickets any more. If I wanted to see mediocrity in recruiting (before), in play and the likes of 51-7, I could go see Ala A&M here. BUT, I can always hope and pray that CG gets gone and soon before I die and yes I'm old, I want to the real Tech again.

I do not accept the likes of what I have seen example ND/GT. Winnable games down the tubes.

..like Wake Forest in 1999? Or UVA in 1999?

May I suggest since you are no longer a Tech fan that you not waste your time on message boards reliving old losses and insulting the coach.

The losses are history; they can't be changed and the coach is not going to be changed.

Drop it.

No you and those similar to you are not the fans if you were you would not accept what we've seen over the last 4 years. You would stand on your hind legs and say so. You sing the praises of a has been who I feel never was. I'm still a fan and will return when Tech football returns. And who said I was not a Tech fan you maybe? I still cheer for the bold and brave, I also buy tickets when I'm near or in Atlanta and see a game or two. But like the kid several years ago who ran down the steps and yelled "Gailey you suck" I feel the same but do not say so at a game and I cheer for the SA's.

In fact I sold my house here and plan on moving closer to Atlanta so I can see more games.

Lets get the emotion out of this and talk real problems at Tech, recruiting over the years, vanilla offense, QB who has not been coached up. If you can not see this then I think you are wearing blinders. The one bright and it's bright is the D.

old foggy, while i agree that GT holds the cards for the being the best combo of academics and sports, especially in the area of engineering you are way off if you think that GT is the only legitimate choice:
Stanford
Cal Berkeley
Purdue
Penn State
Pitt
Boston College
Texas A&M
Auburn
NC State
Vanderbilt
Wake Forrest
Notre Dame
who is wearing gold colored glasses now?

one of the big reasons that so many college football fans complain is that the "good ole days" of long-term big programs is much harder to maintain now due to lower total scholarship numbers that have increased the parity in all of the NCAA. few few dominant programs with so much parity, and lots of 'upsets'

in any case, Calvin had many options, including UGA

If you want to remove the emotion of this thread then stop harping on the past and provide solutions for the future OF. You don't like Gailey you don't like the offense you don't like the recruiting. All you do is live in the past, all I hear from you is 51-7 x 2. It's over but for some reason you won't move forward so you try and keep your agenda for dislike of CCG.

Dan Rad and no impact on CCG's decision to fire and hire, I KNOW THAT FOR A FACT! so stop insinuating he did. You come over here and bait bait bait and then you go back and run to your other home and stick out your chest like your some kind of special Tech fan.

It gets old with you real fast.

I don't think I ever said that there were no other choices, I just said Tech was and is the best choice.

That was not the purpose of my post to U so answer the questions and statements I posed to you. You can't do it logically, maybe emotionally but not logically!
You're right, I stopped reading after the first paragraph.

If you were a manager and I think not, if you had an employee who was not pulling his/her weight you would have been on the out side looking. GT football is big business. Look at the budget many businesses would love to have a budget like that.
I work in the financial organization of a company with a significantly larger budget than GT (even our division has a larger budget than GT & we're one of the smaller divisions in the company). I am management level but have no direct reports.

All of that said, if someone is not pulling their weight they should be confronted with the issue (which Gailey did as noted by folks with more inside info than myself) & be directed to correct the problems or else (which Gailey also did and then backed up his directive by forcing a resignation of the guilty parties).

OF, You will only return when Tech goes on a streak similar to the 1952 team? I mean we are in the middle of the longest successful period in Tech's history and that's not good enough for you? You imply you'll return when we win National Championships because that's the only period in Tech's history with more winning seasons stacked up. Exactly what kind of fan does that make you?

Some might challenge your definition of 'fan.'

beej67,
goes to the games

It's like this I may not accept your definition of FAN, you may not accept mine. Here's the deal I saw my first Tech game in the 40's and I still love Tech. I have no respect for those fans or who call themselves fan who accept what we have seen for the last few years. If the fan base rose up as one we might have seen change sooner but with many sitting back saying things will get better don't have a clue. As for returning to BDS I do every once in a while. I just don't like to see the Dukes, the UNC etc hand us our fannies. Happens to often now.

This will be my last post for a while so I can't answer any of your criticisms. I'm moving, to an Apt. while my new house is under construction so go ahead say what you will.

Fairweather.

If you don't think Chan has done a pretty good job with 2 and 3 star athletes and that he won't do better with 9 4 *'s in one class you're delusional. If we have 2 to 3 more years of recruits like this years we WILL be competing for ACC championships. Not to mention the 6 additional recruits in '09 and on.

since I don't like to post personal stuff go to BO and see what I have posted! You will see very little, I posted you and bro's pm to me so that many could read and form an opinion about you and Bro. Me, you've gotten real old for me a long time ago! You wanted to be big man on the board, OK you are BMOB. Yep Nats daddy was right about you! Yes I don't like CG that is his coaching style, OK I did not know who or why the changes were made and it's water under the bridge but everything I post and if I said Jesus was god personified you would have something to say. I don't read your post any longer it's the same ole same ole all the time unless you are trying to put me down. I have not read one single word that justifies CG and the reason he kept Wilson etc around for so long. Now you justify it.

Jerry

I still can't get away from this guy. This is a personal pm from him.

I have never in my life seen one person who can't keep his mouth shut, he spews and spews to the point that it's funny.

Jerry the only thing this board wants from you is to offer something we can DISCUSS ABOUT GT. Not your continuous ramblings about the 40's and 50's. You have shown you are not a true Tech fan but readily bash us for accepting mediocrity which no one in this room has.

Go to your apartment, you need a timeout.

So how many times has OF quit the board now? How long will it take for him to come back, with his almost incoherent ramblings and attacks? Maybe we should start a pool?

Why do we have to see "Oldfoggy" everywhere on this board? Maybe some get a kick out of it? I don't know.

Re: Fogee

It makes him feel warm and fuzzy inside to get constant attention like a little child. The best thing to do would be ignore his crap and then he will throw a temper tantrum. :laugher:

It's like this I may not accept your definition of FAN, you may not accept mine.
Well sir, that's a pretty accurate statement. And FYI - there are some who don't consider me to be a fan either.

But I go to the games. And I sit close to the field. And I'm loud. And I don't manufacture criticism to support an agenda.

I'm not perfect. Sometimes I make snap judgements that are in error. Sometimes my spinal cord takes over. Sometimes I go completely off my rocker. But I don't hate anyone on our team. Didn't hate Braine. Don't hate Chan.

beej67,
did hate Carole Moore, but doesn't consider her part of our team.
