Wisconsin fires Paul Chryst

You are the reason college football sucks.
Easy now. There are a lot of people in the broader CFB community who think we’re dumb for firing GC after 3.3 years, citing the transition away from the 3O as reason to give him more time.

Wisconsin is rolling the dice, but sometimes those rolls come up winners, look at ugag.

Wisconsin is not bleeding fans like we are. They are not coming off 3 consecutive 3 loss seasons and looking completely inept at basic football. The two situations are not comparable.

The obsession by every fanbase of not just wanting but needing to be a championship contender every single year is completely insane. I have standards for GT football and they don’t include being a contender every year. They do include being in the hunt every so often. That In my opinion is a healthy outlook for sports in general.

Literally no one in the broader football community thinks we’re dumb for firing Collins. TO or not, 10-28 is horrific and the ND-uga-CU-Ole Miss string of games is historically bad.

UW's fundraising is not really different from GT with the exception that the A-T Fund is perceived to be autonomous, which it isn't. The folks at the A-T Fund report to the Office of Development, just like those raising funds like Roll Call for the GT Foundation. UW has the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics under the UW Foundation, which is similar.

The Bylaws of the GT Foundation include the description of their Development Committee, which reads as follows (bold portions for emphasis):

Section 7. Development Committee. The Development Committee is charged with the responsibility of working with GIT, the Office of Development and other fund-raising entities, including the Athletic Association, Alumni Association, the various schools and colleges, and President’s office, to develop and coordinate fund-raising activities, programs and campaigns, including any funding thereof by the Foundation.
Wait. So the GT Foundation, which is flush with cash, can fund the AA?

Bro you don’t have to tell me, I’m within the GT community, I get it. But browse the CFB board on Reddit, there are some people that believe this to be the case.

We're good. Don't need to browse that. Of course UGAg fans wanted us to keep the Clown. That date on the calendar has been a bye week for them. They were a combined 97-7 in scoring against the Clown. We did not field any semblance of a competitive team against them.

Didn't want to start a whole thread on this, but damn...

So 1-3 to start the season with some truly Collin-esque losses
Exactly.... Dude wins 8-9 avg over the last 4 years and one year, starts 1-3 and fired. I think there is more to the story. Seems odd that you would fire a coach, for one bad start, in 5/6 years.

I agree there has to be more to the story that we may never know. Maybe he messed with somebody's cheese that turned out to be an important person.

Jimbo’s contract pays him $9M this year and escalates to $9.95M by the end of the contract. So the question is when does he decide he’s tired of TA&M and starts mailing it in to get fired and take the buyout?

There is nothing more to the story. Idiots are in charge in the sports world. Is the biggest bro-fest and nepotistic boondoggle in America right now. It will come crashing down as soon as the Baby Boomer generation dies.
