Wish List

Clemson has just had more money, more luck, and more appeal to bring in quality assistants than Georgia Tech has.

Also, more than just the coach salary, Clemson has had facilities and resources advantages over the rest of the ACC minus Florida State.
The one thing we shouldn't be worried about is having enough money to pay a coach who turns into a huge success. We might not be willing to pay an established coach $5 mil to leave his comfortable location and come here... but there will be plenty of money if we hire someone at cheaper prices and he wins a NC here.

Similarly, people greatly overestimate the likelihood of a good young coach coming here, doing pretty well, and being lured away to another program. The three times that's happened to us, the employers that lured away our coaches were Alabama, the NFL, and Notre Dame. Alabama and Notre Dame are two of the four or five most prestigious and important CFB programs in the country. We shouldn't be worried about losing a coach to Miss. St. or Okla. St. or Arizona or Wisconsin or something. That's not going to happen.

If a coach wins at GT, there'll be plenty of money to keep him here.
