You know you are at GT when...

BK Steakhouse, aka Burger King was next to Placement Center.

10th Street Art theater played 'Vixen" for about 2 years.

Lenox when it was an open air mall?

One Eyed Jacks, on Biltmore Place?

Ice skating at Colony Square Mall, that was when the hotel was the "Flairmont".

The condos in Colony Sq sold for $25,000.00 when opened.

Cross Roads resturant at Peachtree & Spring.

Saw Vixen at 10th Street Art. How about all the yellow-front porn shops on West Peachtree downtown - remember those? (not that I frequented the same). Oh yeah, how about Titty Winks (became the Booby Hatch, later) downtown that was a topless sandwich place with a trampoline and a shoe-shine stand - now that's entertainment.

When the Beatles played Atlanta in 1966, WQXI announced they would be signing autographs at Richs. I got to Richs early at Lenox and noticed there were no crowds. Wrong Richs - downtown Richs (which made much more sense) was the spot. The Beatles played for 46 minutes - I watched the stadium clock. Ticket price - $6.00 for lowest portion of upper level. I thought that was soooo much money.

One Eyed Jacks became Bottom of the Barrel (I think).

Ice skating at Colony Square - yep, remember that. The hotel was the Fairmont, I think, and had really ugly interiors. There was a sculpture at the entrance to the Colony Square office bldg. on the corner that was made by a Georgia State student - huge thing.

Wish I had bought a Condo. Knew of a cat (real cat as in dog versus cat) that jumped from a balcony there apparently thinking it was still jumping over the railing on the deck at the last house lived in - it died an ugly death.

Cross Roads hung on a pretty long time. They had those baked and restuffed potatos. Lots of old folks there. There were a few of those old classic restaurants - Coach and Six, Lark and Dove, Beef and Burgandy, etc.

I remember watching "Behind the Green Door" at one of the downtown adult theatres. :wow:

I remember walking up under the old West stands and seeing the old original west stands. There was a wooden airplane propeller under there.

I remember sitting in Dean Griffin's office with him in the Knowles building talking about old times. He let another guy and me take the 1928 Rose Bowl game ball from his office over to the Student Center. But we babysat it in Physics class first.

I remember stumbling on the 1952 Orange Bowl trophy in a bathroom in the Old Gym (there were several trophies in there).

I remember streak week (no, I didn't) and Dean Dull coming over and leading everyone in the singing of Ramblin Wreck from Ga Tech in front of Fitten.

I remember Pepper Rodgers eating lunch every day with two righteous babes who worked in the Admin building at the diner in the rear of the Admin building.

I remember when some guys stole the bulldawg from the Student Union at UGA. It was recovered after an anonymous tip told where it was buried. I knew a guy who stole the bellrope from some belltower over there.

I remember when some poor frat pledge brother died when he was left on top of Stone Mountain at night and fell off the side trying to get down.

Man, I'm starting to feel like I went to the four seasons instead of Georgia Tech hearing of the old Tech. No waterproofing, no Techwood, no Saturday morning classes, calculators instead of slide rules.

BTW, the burger bowl is named so because of a Burger King that used to be on hemphill.

Anyone ever get thrown in the Frat pool on Techwood? Pool was inside the house, must have been nice??

You mean Theta Chi's pool? One of my bro's snuck in the house, dove into it and broke his neck because they had drained the pool before they left for Break.

How about Harry's Steakhouse, just down from Ush Mush on Spring St.? Pitchers of Long Island Iced Tea and Zombies.

ArchiTECH took his bride-to-be to the very south end at the very top of the west stands at Grant Field to ask her to marry him (35+years ago). That big dumb-ass looking slab building just south of the stadium wasn't there then and there was a gorgeous view of downtown. You could see the Regency Hyatt (Blue Bubble) since it wasn't surrounded by taller stuff.

Of course this was before ArchiTECH had a sex, race, and height change operation.

Well, hell ArchTech, what did she say? Yeah or nay?

She took pity on ArchiTECH and said "yes, you poor pathetic creature, I will sacrifice my future for you."

Then, ArchiTECH immediately questioned her about breeding.

Anybody remember Duffy's Bar on the left just after going thru the 3rd street tunnel?

Anybody remember the FBI arresting some students who lived at Smith Dorm? They made a home made rocket which was launched up into the Atlanta airlanes.

Anybody remember the snow (1960 I think) riot in which the President's house was mobbed because he would not close classes the next day? I was in the infirmary when they started hauling the students in who had been billy clubbed.

Anybody remember the campus dogs wearing painted ads for candidates running for student offices?

Anybody remember the trash can covering the top of the flag pole on the quad?

Anybody remember the Magnificent Seven?

Anybody remember students risking their lives scaling the side of the tower to break into professor's offices to steal the tests?

Anybody remember how the adversarial culture worked at Tech? It was students against profs in all of academics, and anything was fair game.

Anybody remember running from the hill to Air Force Drill in the parking lot at the Big Tit in the Atlanta heat in wool uniforms while carrying all their books and the metal case containing the instruments for Mechanical Drawing? . . . then running back to an unairconditioned hot class and how the papers stuck to your arms?

Anybody remember how you could get partial credit for a problem in which you made an error in the sign of your answer because of the slide rule? I got the sign wrong on a 20 point question. For partial credit, the prof drew a line between the 2 and 0. He said that I got half credit--the half on the right.

Ohhhhh, the precious memories of Saturday morning classes.
I remember the mag 7 and the great blocking they porvided. Most of them played Pro ball after college.
