Players don't care....

Agreed. But if a future recruit were to ask any of the guys mentioned in the tweet about the current coaching staff, how do you think they would respond?

Given the early departures (including some rumored this year) and other factors, I think we can read between the lines here.

I have no idea about the relationship CPJ has with his team(s). I mentioned in another threads CPJ told Ken/AJC players are in his office a lot talking football and non-football stuff. Recruits admire him for being down to earth and chill guy.

How often do Tech SAs with pro sport ability and desire actually come back with eligibility left? I can think of Matt Harpring. Unfortunately, GT has never seemed to be a place like USC where talents like Leinart and Barkley come back to simply enjoy themselves.

Mid town ATL is def NOT so cal. F***, it's like living an episode of entourage every day if you're the qb for so cal regardless if you're winning or losing.

I don't think any schools are really like that. Those two are an exception. Sanchez and Bush both left USC early.

As long as they're not actively recruiting against us, I guess it doesn't matter. CPJ needs all the help he can get in that arena.

@M_Butler31 smh man I feel bad for those boys Bc we know what the problem is @Its_dreese @dmorg91 @MoBetta_42 @DemaryiusT @Mario_NoFlex8

Shouldn't that read who the real problem is? Or are they refering to the to? Or the hill?

I'm not saying no one from USC football leaves early or Duke basketball for that matter. I'm also not saying Tech always have its SAs leave early.

It could be my fan-dom clouds my perception, but it just seems more likely for pro-talent athletes at Tech to bolt at the earliest opportunity compared to other schools.

We've had kids bolt for player friendly coaches (i.e., Cremins) and certifiable hard-asses (i.e, O'Learly) so I don't think players leaving early is necessarily an indictment on Johnson.

Ibee, you probably have greater insight than any of the rest of us. Do you agree that they're saying CPJ is the problem?

I just have a hard time believing that a guy that can have so much success as a head coach at Southern and Navy and whose offense is getting it done at this level is really the problem. I'm seriously confused on how a guy that can't relate to the team as a head coach has a nearly 70% winning record before coming to Tech. Any insights that you can add to what Dwyer's twett meant would be appreciated.

I'll let Dwyer tweet what he meant. There are some players who played on the championship that think CPJ is destroying GT. I believe CPJ deserves a good chunk of the blame of what is going on now. My biggest issue with him is his eye for "football players". Forget the measurables, we have a bunch of guys, IMO, that who are not tough, nasty, physical. A lot of Janes not enough Tarzans. I want guys who are going to send a message to their rival like Alec Olgetree did. You know it is bad when you have your teammates saying that one of their fellow teammates is the worst football player they have ever seen and that player is on scholarship. Im not on the fire CPJ bandwagon, but he needs to get it together asap

Whoa. Who said this and when? What player were they talking about?

The chemistry on this team is very much so out of wack. This was displayed when teammates just looked on when Robbie was body slam.

I agree with this. Don't just WATCH as your teammate is being body slammed...or held up to have the ball stripped at the 1 yard line (for that matter).

Sorry, please know this isn't directed at you, nor at any particular player from that team either, but I have to chuckle a bit at Gailey players thinking that.

Gailey.

Seriously.

We should lead by example... I suggest we take a cue from the UM fans and be the toughest sob's around. The team can look to us in the stands, seeing us pile-drive the opposing fans will help motivate them.

There might be something to this.

Half the team doesn't show up and the other half is engaged in a tickle fight. This sounds a lot like the student/frat section.

I have been on a tirade for a few years now saying paul rewards scholarships to undeserving players, has too many of this on his team and not enough are going to REAL recruits that can help us.

The fact is, Paul has and is losing his team because of HIS decisions and the message they send. The guy does not know how to win with a program comprised of kids that had other D1 offers who think they are better than they are (every BCS school deals with this). Paul is used to dealing with overachievers who appreciate a chance to play.

Totally different approach and mindset.

And the record, losing the team, lack of ALL-ACC performers the last three years shows it. Add in a school that doesn't help the situation at all.

The more I think about it, even if the hill lightened up a bit to help (which they should do anyway) I am not sure Paul would capitalize on that!!!!!

I think I have come to conclusion on my answer. He was in over his head when he came here, really believing his scheme could outdue talent. He was in for a rude awakening. He got it and can't reconcile it now.

Reading this thread is like a flashback to the CCG days. Back in the CCG days everyone complained that TChoice was the vocal/leader motivator on the team and CCG didn't know how to motivate players. Interesting how the story repeats itself only the characters change.

The real problem with the team this year is we don't have a dominate B-back or DL. Fix those 2 things, particularly the DL (with either players, coaches or both) and we all get to be happy again.

PS. I think Dwyer's tweet was about the lack of a big b-back.

Significant difference now and then.

Then was "we have the talent and know it" and can't get more than 7 wins. That theory turns out to be the case. We have had a nice set of NFL players, that 06 team was sick and chan didn't do squat with it.

The theory now is paul has no talent and we know it, doesn't appear to development players well, has lost the team and his record over the past three seasons is WORSE than any three consecutive seasons with gailey. Furthermore, paul believes his talent is adequate enough despite everything to the contrary.

Think about that.

I thought THIS thread was more about CPJ not being able to motivate players, not his recruiting problems.

I can be of help with pissing them off.

That Miami towel guy was pissed.

oh in that reference, just motivation, I still can't recall Gailey's team being this obviously bad. 2010 and 2012 are disasters. Gailey had an issue his first year 51-7, but IIRC sure we laid an egg (reggie true freshman loss to duke), but never had a kansas, MTSU and UGA funks like we have with paul

Gaileys last year, maybe, the team quit on him vs BC....but I can't think of anywhere else????

I think the motivation now is as bad as I have ever seen it.
