Players don't care....

oh in that reference, just motivation, I still can't recall Gailey's team being this obviously bad. 2010 and 2012 are disasters. Gailey had an issue his first year 51-7, but IIRC sure we laid an egg (reggie true freshman loss to duke), but never had a kansas, MTSU and UGA funks like we have with paul

Gaileys last year, maybe, the team quit on him vs BC....but I can't think of anywhere else????

I think the motivation now is as bad as I have ever seen it.

I'm sorry, but the what about these games:

'02
Lost to Wake 24-21 at home.
Lost to UGA 51-7
Lost to Fresno State 30-21

'03
Lost to Duke 41-17!

'04
Lost to UNC 34-13; they were terrible
Beat Samford 28-7

'05
Lost to Virginia Tech 51-7
Lost to Utah 38-10

Serious revisionist history. We had more bad losses with Gailey for sure. Not to mention that Johnson has also beat a Top 10 team twice.

I can't believe you don't remember how mediocre our teams were, especially on offense, when Gailey was here. We were 7-6 every year except 2006. Reggie Ball completed about 30% of his passes during the last half of his last season.

So if UGA isn't a ten for nealy, then who is? Its a relative ranking. Nealy obviously must know some team he hates more than UGA, coming from florida?

Didn't phrase well, perhaps. UGA is a 10 for me. I don't hate any college team more than Georgia. But if I'm comparing me to you? Yeah, you're a 10 and I'm a 7. Doesn't mean I hate someone else more, just that you've got the foaming at the mouth thing going. I'm not going to kill any trees over it.

today's players don't want to be called products of a system. They want to be the reason the team is successful, you can't really blame them, but in my opinion it does lead to a fractured lockerroom when you run a system on offense.

I don't see any ex-Tenuta D-players crying about his system. It's the same ---- thing. It lead to gaudy sack numbers and probably got people noticed who wouldn't have been otherwise.

me-first GT-second attitude.

Are you joking? Gailey's teams quit on him like twice a year. The vision of Gailey's fat face on the jumbotron telling everyone not to drink and drive after getting run out of our own stadium by a VT team wearing T shirts with magic markered numbers on them, and 40,000 fans booing him in unison, still sticks in my brain. Has it fled yours?

Pretty sure he never said this. Quote please.

The thing that pisses me off about the PJ haters is they pretend he said stuff he didn't say, and then levy accusations based on those false quotes.

That gailey game was 2007 right? I am fairly certain in my posts i said the team gave up on him in 2007. The team also did his first year. He was fired in 2007.

Paul has had teams give up on him 2 of the past 3 years, and he is in year five. That is easily, EASILY as bad. Maybe moreso since both were essentially his recruits. Paul's track record is trending way down in every facet.

Point here is Paul's trend is as bad as chan's who was fired....thank god for contracts right PJ?

oh so you are interpreting it as they both hate uga, but nealy said he was a 8.5 compared to cross. Ok, I can buy that i guess. Still, you are talking to a reporter...just say the old guys like cross have them as an 11, and I am a 10. I don't know...i guess.

My favorite game in the Gailey era is when we lost 9-6 against WF in the ACCCG. We had a young lad at WR by the name of Calvin Johnson....how did we only score 6 points?

validated by PJ in todays ajc.

nealy -> UGA a 8.5 out of 10 for hate. How can that be. UGA is a 11, and everything else goes down from there. That statement pre UGA game made me pause...then I thought, well maybe he is afraid of bulletin material, or just dumb.

Paul yesterday stated the players didn't give full effort vs UGA. It was very upsetting to him.etc etc.

How can a player not give his full effort vs your #1 rival in year 5 of a coaches tenure?

The only way this can happen is if you allow it.

Paul needs to pull scholarships. I am sorry. You are at tech to play the game. You would not have gotten into tech unless you could play the game. If you choose not to play the game, then we should choose not to keep you. Enough is enough. It is too many games this year to allow this to happen. He needs to set a new tone since we know he will be here at least another year.

Start by calling their high school coach to tell him why you are doing this. Call his family to discuss why. Tell the recruit to find a school to transfer to and we will help him. If unable to do so by a certain date, pull the ship. If you don't want to play here, we will find you somewhere else to play.

Tech can't afford 85 scholarships where 65 are playing. How else do you solve an apparent effort issue with SA's that appear to be passive aggressive to playing to their fullest? thoughts?

yes we can recruit better
yes the school can do things to allow for easier recruiting
but this topic never should be an issue.

It was in 2010, and it is in 2012. Has paul lost the team, why is paul unable to get his kids to play...its his freaking job? This is the worst indicator of them all IMO

Blame it on the head man. It starts from there. Wonder why so many guys jump ship when they can...

NFL caliber RB too.

Don't forget we also had T. Choice...:furious:

Wait bad losses and QUITTING on field are two different things

Paul had a team quit year 5 vs UGA, BYU and MTSU. I am not defending chan. Don't turn it into that. The point is Pauls's teams are quitting on him as bad as chans'

But since you brought it up, Pauls bad losses Rival chan's

MTSU maybe the worse loss in the history of tech football
LSU
UGA
Air Force
BYU
Kansas
anyone remember beating a fcs school 7-3 or something.

I really do think if the team had quit on him we wouldn't have won our last 4 conference games and gone 5-3 in the ACC (I also point to the UNC game. It would have been really easy to give up as a player since we were trading scores back and forth). Just sayin'. Keep trollin though.

ETA - what does losing to LSU in year 1 have anything to do with quitting this year?

ETA again - The loss to MTSU is DEF not the worst loss ever.

Youre really getting far out on that limb...we have lost to Furman before

You know it is bad when you have your teammates saying that one of their fellow teammates is the worst football player they have ever seen and that player is on scholarship.

Wow, I just had a flashback to 2004 StingTalk. I love when stuff like this is posted, left intentionally vague and not addressed anymore.

So what did I miss? Who said this and about whom?

This game was over before it even started.

UGA is having one of their best seasons in 10, maybe even 32 years.

Meanwhile, Georgia Tech is trotting out a mediocre quarterback and our 3rd string kicker. Oh yeah, and our best player on defense has the flu.

Good luck, guys! Go get em'!!!

^^^ this. Easily their best team in a decade, if not longer. Aaron Murray also just tied Peyton Manning for 2nd place all time SEC TD passes. There's that too. Peyton is just a decent qb.

UGA is a 10. Anyone on the team, its a 10 when you walk into the door; he has been here 3 years. PLEASE no excuse. Only Gotsis gets an excuse. So if UGA isn't a ten for nealy, then who is? Its a relative ranking. Nealy obviously must know some team he hates more than UGA, coming from florida? Makes no sense to me to state that you don't feel the hate towards your biggest rival as your other teammates. AGain, maybe he is dumb

I will say this though. He played harder than cross.

Guys I am sorry but making such a big deal about and 8.5 versus a 10 is just dumb. We got beat primarily because we were out talented and out coached. We might need to develop some more mental toughness, we need some Nesbitt's on the team that is for sure.

I have a mgt class with a few players and they really just seemed like they didnt care. some even said they wanted to stay after the game for the bars. they said they knew they were gonna get beat bad, and it really showed on the field. i put it on the coaching seeing as that this is probably the most hyped game of the year, our in-state rival, and the players arent motivated...what the hell.

Seems legit.

"What the hell (?)" indeed. :furious:

Like I said in my wall o' text a few pages back, I think this was an issue before CPJ ever got here...
