Kelly is our next DC

Kelly looked as though he was crying in the booth while TW took a knee.

More than up for it. Coach Kelly is already recognized by most as the best recruiter. Im more than sure he will surround himself only with coaches who are passionate about what they are doing just like him.

Everyone has been asking for a young hungry DC who has something to prove, well he is right under our nose

I'm hoping he gets a shot. Happy new years' guys!

Charles Kelly has earned the job. First time in a long time I've seen a Tech defense fit up right and be in position to defend passes. Probably the biggest descrepency in talent we've faced in years, and Kelly was able to out scheme them and put his defenders in a position to succeed. Wouldn't have said it before the game, but Kelly should be the next DC at Tech.
Absolutely have to agree............
:wicked:

I dont want to hear that backup Qb crap. You guys was slobbing over the 4* Wittek. Tevin weak arm threw in that same wind as Wittek and threw a strike. Please tell me who could have done damage control any better being thrown in the DC position midseason

Exactly. Just exactly.

They said on tv that he was just so incredibly happy for the opportunity to coach the defense. He seems like a very positive, humble guy. Need more of that attitude to balance PJ (not that there's anything wrong with PJ's style).

Humble...cries after big wins....are we hiring Boehner for our DC?

PJ will make the decision. But I doubt Kelly will be the next DC. This hire is essentially PJ's job and he is gonna get a rock solid DC.

CCK took over the D in midseason. The best defensive performance came following the long break, when he had ample time to coach guys up and scheme. That speaks in his favor, and if the guys play hard for him it'd be hard not to give him the job. A lot of posters (moi included) are calling for a relatively young DC who can recruit. Maybe we have him already.

I agree. I think the only real question is PJ's thought process. If he feels that his job hinges on this, which it kinda does, he is going to go all out.

I would have no problem with Kelly getting the job. I thought the defense played pretty well against Duke, very well against FSU in 2nd half, and very well today. Today I saw Watts, Nealy, and Hunt-Days making more plays than they have all year. USC thought it would hurt us with delays over the middle to their fast WR's but our LB's and DB's made tackles and got USC off the field time and time again. I saw enough to be impressed.

Yet we have five years of him on the defensive staff failing. I don't want a young DC, I want someone who has proven himself over a much longer time than a game and a half. You idiots who want a young guy are playing craps, not chess.

I dunno about that. Football coaching requires gigantic egos and most coaches are control freaks. I doubt he had much say when Groh was around.

he didnt but all he did was call grohs plays.

thats the point. he cant implement his system or plays or terminology midseason at all. so no one knows one öööö thing about him as a dc. period. this game or the five prior.

only person that would is pj when they talk philosophy and scheme. i already can see kelly is a three deep two deep shell coach and man under. backends dont change much. but the under does. that is a big ? for anyone.

and the other big ? is can he and how does he lay HIS d foundation scheme and plays. how well can he teach it. how well can he correct it? lay out his program. right now he didnt so that at all. so for me the answer is no. keep him on staff but hire a dc you do trust and let them choose a new dl and lb coach.
