This is a PJ defining game.

GT will lose by 17+ points.

GO JACKETS!!

Whoa!!!! I know the hate for CPJ and the O is at an all-time high but 17+ pts???? With an inexperienced QB, that 30pts/gm D, and an unhealthy Gurley who may get 15 carries???

Gurley will get more than 15 carries. And if he only gets 15 he will still have over 100 yards and a couple of TD's. The dude is the best college RB I have seen since AP. Gurley at 75% is still better than the majority of the backs in the country. He is a man among boys. Its a shame he plays for UGA. Wouldn't mind seeing him on the falcons though.

I think 2006 was probably a better shot, all things (including on the field talent of both teams) considered.

But I do agree this is a PJ defining game. If we lose this one, he'll be let go at the end of 2014, and GT will be on its way to Bill Lewis 2.0.

OK, if that is the case, let's just give CPJ a lifetime contract and continue to be the bitch for the dawgs, and everyone else with good players, to screw us every year. Good thinking beej! U are right on!

I don't agree this game is PJ defining. If he loses but wins next year, he won't be fired, and his legacy will be determined by what follows. So how is it PJ defining? This thread is basically a passive-aggressive "CPJ better win or else" threat.

I've been hearing people bashing PJ since the middle of '09, of all years.
Also, ANY win over the Mutts is a defining moment for any GT coach.
I say, forget the passive-aggressive "CPJ must go" nonsense, show up on Saturday, and bring the hate.
Here's to 9-4.

Difference is, we had talent in 08 and 09. Not to mention that defenses used the read and react method to defend our offense. Va Tech showed that if you attack this offense, it is done! Not enough talent or scheme to overcome. There will be plenty of excuses for Pawl no matter the outcome. Some people are still star struck by having a successful FCS coach roam our sidelines.

no butthurt. This is win win for GT and me. If tech loses hopefully PJ will be gone. WIN

If tech wins...WIN!!

Either way its a make or break for PJ I think., Edit to say I dont' predict he will be fired if he loses. But I think its the second to last straw, with a subpar next year being the nail

PJ is not getting fired with a loss yo UGA. Get over that now cause you're just going to be pissed off when it doesn't even register on the hot seat radar.

Man up, 10-4 Bitches.

Good to see things were getting too positive for the Fire CPJ crowd. Had to go on record before the game about how easy it will be for us to win this weekend and only a terrible coach would prevent it.

Saying this is a better chance than 2006 or 2009 is laughable and pathetic.

I dont even even remember 2006 which is a good thing . Another Reggie Ball special no doubt

We only lost because Chan and Patty were looking ahead to prepare for the ACC CG and the powerhouse Football Factory University of Wake Forest.

I'm cursed to remember the losses as much as the wins. 2005 and 2006 still sting.

If we lose, nothing changes. CPJ still gets another year to break the 7-5 cycle. If we win this game though, he will earn himself another year regardless of how we end up next year (barring complete meltdown).

We have a great opportunity this year to knock these guys off.

But he's not and it isn't. Anyone who thinks the two lines of scrimmage are anywhere near equal, is dumber than uga.

Sure we can win, but it won't necessarily be because Murray is out. He doesn't play defense, and if we win, it will in large part be because we pressured Mason, and Murray couldn't handle said pressure any better than he will. Also, chuckle if you will, but losing our long snapper is far from insignificant. And finally, if Gurley is effective, Mason will look like John Elway.

PJ isn't getting fired this year regardless of what happens the next two games. However, losing on Saturday will be the equivalent of what the ACC Championship game against Wake Forest was for Gailey. After that game, everyone knew Gailey was going to be fired at some point. It wasn't going to be right then and there because of the extent of the buyout, but he was a dead man walking. Considering how poorly we are at the fundamentals, it's highly unlikely we are magically going to become a 9, 10 win team next year, so this game will set the tone of the program for a while. Gailey couldn't overcome his own Equilibrium in 07, and so it is likely with Johnson in 14. Saturday is his best chance at buying more time.

Agree 33. Win and everyone forgives you for this season and it makes up for some of the past losses to the mutts.

Lose and he is Chan 07 next year. Full on boo at the scoreboard type of disdain. Definitely the defining game for his career. If he wins, I think he retires here after his current contract is up. Lose and 2014 is it.

As far as best chance...I disagree. Our oline is horrible and while Vad is our best throwing qb under CPJ, he is our worst TO qb so far. Tentative and not quick enough with reads.

Our D is the best PJ has had...definitely since 08 and maybe ever.

All this thread tells us is that some "fans" hate GT's coach more than they hate georgie. The dwags typically have higher ranked depth than we have starting, and the OP talks about their injuries?

A former GT football sa who can come on a fan forum during hate week and call losing to georgie a "win" is lower than a dwag imo.
Piss on em!

I think in many ways it's lose-lose.

If we lose, PJ is a lame duck for 2014, we fire him, and hire Bill Lewis 2.0. Program dies.

If we win, everyone still wants to fire PJ (because they've already made up their minds on the matter, look around) and they now have an excuse for the win. "Oh, doesn't matter, we only beat Georgia because of injuries" ... which then makes next year's game just as big of a must-win as this one. Eventually we don't win one of these mentally manufactured "mist-wins," fire PJ, and hire Bill Lewis 2.0.

Here's what I find interesting about 33 starting this thread. 33 has made up his mind that we are going to get curb-stomped and his multi-year campaign to oust CPJ will gain substantial momentum.

I do not for one nanosecond believe that 33 has even considered the possibility that we win this game. We all know the odds are not in our favor but what if we win to the tune of 41 to 17?

What will 33 say the definition is then?

If we kick Georgia's ass up and down the field, I predict that 33 will say that it wasn't really a defining game; Murray didn't play; Grantham is a lame duck; Gurley is playing not to get hurt; we were bound to get lucky; UGa didn't want to be here; etc. and that we need to discard the outlier and go back to the VPI/Miami/BYU games to evaluate CPJ.

And if we do win handily, I further predict that 33 will retreat momentarily, regroup and come back strong by referring to our upcoming recruiting class as a defining class.
