Well.....VT Fan's Perspective

GT is to VT what UNC is to GT.

GT game is very important VT. They spend extra time preparing for us and usually end up overlooking opponents, week before we play each other. I don't see your correlation here.

But you're probably saying that to just be a douche as usual.

Nah, he's kind of right. We own UNC and seem to always beat them, and as much as it sucks, VPI owns us and seems to always beat us.

This is a little off-topic, but I believe Waller will be a better receiver, in the long run, than Smelter. He's so big, as long as JT5 throws it anywhere near him, he's gonna catch the ball

Word on the street is that NFL scouts are higher on him than Smelter. It would be great if his coming out party was this weekend against a banged up VT cornerback.

They underperform every year the week before us. Sometimes they outright wet the bed. It is no coincidence, they are obsessed with us like Spurrier is UGA. And frankly, the obsession is why they beat us.

I expect the trend to continue.

As to the facts, we do have a track star. I expect his former ballhandling problems to return this game as Foster will coach VT to take advantage here. But he can take a game on his back like Nesbitt could. Thats not the only fair comparison, he can throw OK, and we have WRs who can get a ball thats not perfect. He is underestimating our skill here.

As to running, JT is by far the biggest threat. Partly because hes not smooth on the pitch. Nobody stands out in the As and Bs to me. Andrews just came back, i hope he can make the same impression in a game that he made in the scrimmages.

Still think we lose I am afraid.

Go high on butthurt futures all the way until the game. I don't mind it.

I'd rather have the expectations as low as possible. I'd rather we squeak a victory out every week than feel like we're world beaters and then lose the games that matter.

I see this happen too often with Tech football. And our stupid posts on this board doesn't influence the team but you know they think similarly too.

Butthurt futures will carry this team to greatness.

Agree on their GT-obsession. They struggle before and after us IIRC. It seems we get that attention from most of the teams on our schedule. People get up to play us because nobody wants to get beat by the HS offense. It's kinda silly.

If our defensive line is weak, why would we play it straight up without them stunting to create some confusion? Take a weak defensive line and play read and react with them is a sure way to get hammered.

I watched that VT/ECU game and if they run that D we should be able to do pitch and catch with our big wideouts.

if we play well we can win this game. VT is NOWHERE near the talent that ugag and f$u are packing.

I will say that just when you think PJ can't pull one out he is very deadly. But we need to play well and get some defensive stops.

After Saturday, VT fans will say they haven't felt this bad since they accidentally forgot to wash their hands and got Ben Gay on their nuts.

VT fans in general aren't very smart football fans. In 2006 I went to Blacksburg with friends and a bunch of their fans in the concession line kept mocking GT as the other Tech "that hasn't ever won anything" and "the only time they were any decent was for a couple of years in 1999, 2000". I turned to one and said when we left the SEC we had more conference championships than every member except two, and we have 4 National Championships including one as recently as Beamer's coaching tenure. The response I heard was "This isn't Division 2". Seriously, Most VT fans are borderline tards.

The funny thing is that we actually played them during the 1990 championship season. It was a close game (6-3?) for some reason, but they were basically one of the patsies on the schedule. :-)

I think their sense of history doesn't extend too far beyond Beamer's "win enough to not get fired but never really accomplish anything meaningful and that's why we have an empty trophy case" tenure.

(It does drive me crazy that they seem to have our number, though... As much as I hate Miami, I can rationalize that they have better players than we do, but VPI is kind of an afterthought that backs into more wins than any team I've ever seen.)
