Anti-Gold Standard - Maintain the fight song in its original form

The change is too innocuous. Can't see it happening. Not worth risking public accusations of sexism for.

It's a song over 100 years old, changing it AT ALL is ööööing stupid and just opens the door for more changes. It's not a slippery slope fallacy when it's true...can't give an inch to SJW nutjobs.

Up by 4.

Good work everyone. Keep it up, like andrew said, they need to be crushed.

Hey look, another internet form that does nothing to validate responses. This could never be exploited by industrious, knowledgeable engineers...

Pretty sure this completely meaningless wank form is now beating their almost as meaningless opposing wank form.

1475 for changing
1518 against changing

"You need to leave out the following lines about the son, and consider "the brave and bold" to be the GT student body, not whatever sports team is playing."

<sarcasm>

So we alumni don't matter? Then stop all the junk mail asking for donations.

And we need to get rid of the phrase THWG. Our elected officials are concerned the unenlightened (see Sanford on football Saturdays) will think we are singing about the government. Lawlessness may ensue (again, see Sanford on a football Saturday).

</sarcasm>

Would the folks behind this spend as much time or effort fighting the glass ceiling?

You guys are missing the bigger point. Why are these women posting about making a change to our fight song and not in the kitchen making sandwiches?

Here's my first proposal to resolve the fight song conflict. No cussing, no drinking, no gender bias, no degree bias, no saying bad things about another school (sic), no presumptions that anyone will necessarily have either sons or daughters. But, I'm sure someone will find something offensive to complain about

I'm a Rambling Wreck from Georgia Tech and a jolly good friend to all.
A jolly good friend, a jolly good friend, a jolly good friend to all.
And like my jolly good Techies I cheer for Georgia Tech.
I'm a Rambling Wreck from Georgia Tech and a jolly good friend to all!

Oh if I had the wherewithal I'd sponsor some students at Tech,
And let them dress in White and Gold and cheer for the Rambling Wreck.
When in time of contest with another school,
They could Cheer Like Heck For Georgia Tech because it is OUR school.

I wish I had some social time with my fellow Rambling Wrecks.
We'd laugh and shout about the fun we have at Georgia Tech.
And when the times grow weary, I will not fuss or fret, 'cause
I'm a Rambling Wreck from Georgia Tech and a jolly good friend to all.

Isn't this idiot, by virtue of assuming that the narrator of the song is a male, simply helping to perpetuate the patriarchy he's trying to smash by changing a lyric to make the intent of the song less clear? Why can't it be a mother dressing her child? What D1-A school has females on the football team? Or why would someone be cheering the general student population at all, if that's the meaning. Why is it that one word, and not the implications that Tech engineers spend all their free time drinking or thinking about drinking, that is the real issue?

their revision offends me. who said I have to assign a sex to my kid?

if I had an offspring, I would let them dress in the gender appropriate clothing of their choice
to go to the campus or telecommute and raise zir voice
"I am a unique snowflake"

Interestingly, but not surprisingly, there is no option in the JOINTHEBRAVEANDBOLD survey to express a desire to keep the song as it is.

What the hell you cis piece of öööö? What gives you the right to force the idea of "gender appropriate clothing" onto your child? You are raping zir with your ideals.
