I started at Tech in 1988 and I've been working at Tech since 1993. I've always maintained, when it comes to support services and such at Tech, that people who couldn't get a job at the Varsity wandered down North Ave and got a job at Tech.

I suppose it's unreasonable to expect randos who happen to work at Tech to have the same level of passionate hate for U[sic]GA that undergrad alums and sports fans do, but I suspect a lot of the randos who happen to work at Tech don't even really understand what a college rivalry is.

It is. However, it's not unreasonable to expect the social media administrators to refrain from smug, smartass, antagonistic comments directed at their own support base.

Maybe, but it's not unreasonable for official social media accounts representing the institute to be run by non-randos. Assuming that's what this was, anyways.

In any event, a representative of Tech in a position that public should never say something like this. One way or another this is not a "lessons learned" scenario. This is like Coke tweeting out "drink Pepsi for a day". People would be thrown off the top of a tall building. And that's just over money. We're ööööing with people's pride on this one.

You're right about that. The SO (no pics) was accepted into Tech but chose to not go only because the admissions dept wasn't inviting and didn't seem to care that she was even there to look at the campus or really answer any questions that she had and had a general smugness about them.

I still hold quite a disdain for them since then because I talked so highly about Tech for so long and felt the SO would fit in perfectly there.

Piss on 'em.
 
There are components of Georgia Tech culture that are sacred to almost all alumni. Hating Georgia is one of them. Obviously the post in a vacuum is not that big of a deal but it significantly undermines much of what original Georgia Tech tradition is all about and is yet another example of our Georgia Tech that we love being eroded by the current leadership.

Did you guys see any Auburn administrative offices offering support for Alabama?

Then argue with a self-righteous, condescending tone with alums expressing that they don't like the post. That alone should get them fired.
 
just got around to the recruiting donation and added a message expressing my disappointment in the admissions and that they should consider fixing that. I know it's a different department, but I'm hoping they can put pressure on them with the new initiative towards athletics branding and outreach.

Are you kidding me? This person, a part of whose job is literally to make social media posts, made a post that will directly cost the school donation money, piss off the people they will be asking for donation money in the future, and have people laughing at the name of the school nationally.

Yes, there will always be stupid people in the world, but that doesn't mean they should get to keep their jobs when they royally öööö up. This person absolutely deserves to be fired.

The same support base they sent a three page letter to earlier in the week asking for more money so they can improve our social media efforts at securing recruits. So far, money well spent. This is egregious. Aside from making us look like wannabe pansies now being ridiculed (rightfully so) by media, it is not in touch with the fanbase. Most Georgia state students are probably uga fans because most high school drop outs are. So it’s okay for them to tweet that nonsense. So the good word today is not thwg? Should my daughter be in red and black today? öööö it im chugging a barrel of rum.
