Very little use for traditional fullbacks anymore. I do not expect we will have any of those. In the new offense, the fullback will be used about as often as the TE in PJ's offense.
 
What is even sadder is that in 2003, our home attendance was as follows
Auburn 55,000 (although a lot of Orange)
Clemson 53,000
NC State 50,000
Maryland 50,000 (great defensive game, gave up 3 to Maryland)
UNC 52,000
UGAg 55,000

Every home game 50k or above

No we didn't. We had 3 total. Let's ease up with the Johnson revisionist history please. The guy was a mediocre recruiter, at best. I agree though - let's hope CGC can close and improve on the last 11 years of recruiting.

247 composite rankings are a joke. Rivals is what is normally referenced (and what was referenced in this thread) so that is what I used.

I'm not disagreeing that Johnson was a mediocre recruiter. He was. It's just frustrating for people to talk like he didn't care about it at all. He clearly did, and was making strides at the tail end of his tenure here (just like Gailey, ironically). Our last two classes were probably better than any class since 2001 (except 2007, obviously). We're gonna have some weird positioning issues for a year or two in the new offense, but there is plenty of talent here to win some games and build on for the future.

FYI here are the 4* guys from 17/18:
Kaleb Oliver
Bruce Jordan-Swilling
Tre Swilling
Gentry Bonds
James Graham
Justice Dingle
Jaylon King

...and that doesn't even include guys like Tariq Carpenter, Charlie Thomas and Juanyeh Thomas who are obviously playmakers. Hell, Pressley Harvin was an excellent get as well.

That's not just us, though. The SEC is supposedly the best conference in the country, but they're having bigger attendance issues that anyone. It's just getting too easy and comfortable to watch on your couch.

It's all across sports, which is why it was so important for the Braves to have the battery: going to a game is more of an experience than just watching a game. You can eat at the restaurants, watch a game, then go to a bar after (or gelato if you have kids). Beats eating ramen, watching the game on TV, then going to sleep.

Where are you getting your ratings from?

I don't think that CPJ "didn't care" - I just think his scheme played a much larger role in recruiting negativity than most of his fans will admit. In the end, I also think he left us in worse shape than when he got here.

I think anyone would have to agree that the scheme negatively affected recruiting to a certain degree. We could go back and forth all day as to how much, as well as the degree that our scheme was able to offset that. At this point it's irrelevant, though, so I'd rather not.

I don't agree that CPJ left us in worse shape than when he got here. Collins inherits a program that has beaten its rival 3 times recently, as opposed to 0 when CPJ came in. Collins inherits a program whose predecessor won the ACC and the Orange Bowl. CPJ inherited one that hadn't won the ACC in 18 years. CPJ inherited a great 2007 class, but very little depth. I don't have time to re-do the research, but it was posted in another thread already: Collins inherits a team with more 4 star players than the one CPJ inherited in 2008. Time will tell if there are any Dwyer/Burnett/Thomas/Morgan type elite talents on the roster, but there are definitely some good young players.
 
CPJ is not leaving a dumpster fire at all. He is leaving behind a team that has good locker room harmony with some leaders, has been reasonably successful, and has shown it is capable but inconsistent.

As far as talent, it’s pretty mediocre. I think CPJ would probably even agree though that this is not at all his most talented roster and probably ranks at the lower end of any of his Tech teams. When you take this mediocre roster and try to transfer it to any other offense, mediocre may be being kind. But that’s not CPJ’s fault. A wise man once said IIWII.

We'll have to agree to disagree on 247 vs Rivals.

We'll also have to agree to disagree re: 2018 vs 2008. Right now, we know exactly what was there in 2008 whereas we are purely speculating about 2018's young talent. We know CPJ inherited a roster with 4+ NFL players on it. 2018 might have that but we won't know for another couple of years. Also, the talent CGC is inheriting hasn't defeated the mutts nor sniffed an ACC nor Orange Bowl though. What the 2008, 2014, and 2016 teams did to the mutts has literally zero relevancy to the team CGC is inheriting. Not a single player from the 2014 OB nor 2009 ACC Championship team is still playing in 2019.

I think Graham can be an elite QB though.
