I think anyone would have to agree that the scheme negatively affected recruiting to a certain degree. We could go back and forth all day as to how much, as well as the degree that our scheme was able to offset that. At this point it's irrelevant, though, so I'd rather not.
I don't agree that CPJ left us in worse shape than when he got here. Collins inherits a program that has beaten its rival 3 times recently, as opposed to 0 when CPJ came in. Collins inherits a program whose predecessor won the ACC and the Orange Bowl. CPJ inherited one that hadn't won the ACC in 18 years. CPJ inherited a great 2007 class, but very little depth. I don't have time to re-do the research, but it was posted in another thread already: Collins inherits a team with more 4 star players than the one CPJ inherited in 2008. Time will tell if there are any Dwyer/Burnett/Thomas/Morgan type elite talents on the roster, but there are definitely some good young players.
