I know that doesn't answer your question but I'm trying to work with your senility here, because otherwise I have no idea what you're talking about :dunno: Also everyone's like a high schooler compared to you so you've got to be more specific

Also, the talent CGC is inheriting hasn't defeated the mutts nor sniffed an ACC nor Orange Bowl though. Not a single player from the 2014 OB nor 2009 ACC Championship team is still playing in 2019.

That 2008 team was the most talented team we've had in a long time. Bey Bey and Morgan were future 1st rounders, Michael Johnson and Burnett 3rd rounders. The whole defensive line was drafted. Dwyer was at one point projected as an early rounder, but fell to the 6th because of concerns over his weight. Depth may have been an issue, but that perception is at least partially informed by the talent differential between our starters and our backups. When your starter is a future pro and his backup is a so-so 3-star player, it's more noticeable than if they're both so-so 3-star players.

It was an unreal team. Similar to 2000 or 2001 but more legit stars. Read the roster from 2001 sometime. 9/11 and that defense caused that team to not live up to its potential. I am hopeful we can return to the days of better "elite" players but also a lot more depth like O'L had.

3 of the 4 DLs that were drafted earned 2nd NFL contracts, the 4th(Richard) had an MBA and chose to walk away from the game on his own terms, he probably could have done the same if he wanted to

The one thing that the CPJ fanboyz fail to realize is that CPJ walked into a great situation talent wise and after 11 yrs of his lazy recruiting efforts he is leaving the next guy a major rebuild (my opinion)

I don't see how anyone can have so much love for a guy (CPJ) that leaves the Program facing a major rebuild

CPJ had 11 yrs to figure out P5 recruiting at GT and failed all 11 yrs, that's unforgivable, Chan only had 6 and he figured it out except for 1 position, QB, and he finally got that figured out but got fired before he could take advantage of it

Don't understand all the love for a guy that's leaving us with depleted talent on both O & D and facing a major rebuild

This is spot on. I was on a team with Richards in a finance class and he was pretty transparent about wanting to enter the NFL for a few years at most to build contacts, but his real goal was to manage money, ideally the money of those people he met in the NFL.
 
Collins may not be inheriting the talent CPJ did, but this is no more of a re-build for him than it was for Kirby at Georgie. Both sets of fans have this false impression that the cupboard is bare, when it's probably good enough to win 7 or 8 games with a brand new coach and system.

Hindsight is 20/20. Those guys were on the 2007 team as well, and that team went 7-6, including losses to Maryland and UVA and a blowout against Fresno State on blue turf. NOBODY was talking about how stocked we were with talent going into 2008. In fact. we were projected to go 3-9 and be the worst team in the ACC. CPJ "fanboyz" have love for the guy because he took that team that was supposed to be total öööö and won 20 games in 2 years. Then when people started whining about how he could never do it with his own players, he went and won 11 games again a few years later. This is a board for GT fans, and you are blowing up the board ööööposting about the coach that many of us consider to be the best GT coach in 50ish years. Should you really be surprised that most of us want you to öööö off? Moreover, what the hell is the point? He's retiring and we got a new coach with a lot of reasons to be excited. Just shut the öööö up with the divisive comments, please.

So what changed to make you excited about about nabbing 2*/3* diamond-in-the-rough players with poor offer sheets? Is it simply because we are doing drama rather than the "if you're looking, we're looking" approach?

And just as importantly, perhaps the kid plays a position we are in desperate need of and not just an "athlete" or another A or B back just to have on the roster.
