Wimbush Graduate “Transferring” Are We an Option?

lol remember when Greg Paulus was a grad transfer and QB for Syracuse. Just remembered that. We will all point to that day as the day Syracuse turned it all around. A true leader of men in their locker room.

I guess I’m just confused how you know Wimbush is some arrogant douchebag solely from the fact that he went to Notre Dame.

I whole heartedly agree that if he comes in here and acts like you describe it would do more harm than good. But as a stop gap measure to help ease transition it makes some good sense for us to get a more polished passer on campus.

We are listed at the bottom of this article and apparently his mom moved to Atlanta. I think it makes a lot of sense for him to come here.

A. Notre Dame & if you have to ask why ..."solely from the fact that he went to Notre Dame," you don't have a grasp of the GT-ND series. The GT Bookstore used to sell T-shirts with the "I Pull for Three Teams - Georgia Tech & Whoever's Playing Notre Dame and Georgia" for a reason. I played against two of St. Ara's teams & they were the dirtiest team we faced, bar none.
B. Quarterback .....if you have to ask why ... you have never played the game.
C. I got beaten out by someone else.
D. I'm gonna take my ball & go home.

As I said up-thread, if he were a deepsnapper, OL, DL, TE, DB - we had one of those from ND & how'd that work out? - LB or whatever, anything but the most visible, high profile position on the field, so be it. But NOT Quarterback.

Locker rooms have a delicate balance. Don't confuse logic with reality.

Truth be told I’ve never had a grasp of the GT-ND series. It’s pretty obviously based on Southern Baptist driven anti-Catholicism and nothing else imo. We aspired to be ND of the South under Dodd.

In my experience, those resentments are reciprocal, not one way as you suggest.

They really aren’t. I know of no Notre Dame fans who hate Georgia Tech. In fact all of them like us. Probably because they crushed us on the reg. I know of no Notre Dame fans who even remember the fish throwing story or anything...it’s really bizarre the hatred old GT fans have for a team that helped keep us financially afloat when we went independent.

I like the Stars and Bars in the stands in South Bend in the 1953 newsreel. :heelclick:

I guess I overlooked the Carpet Bagger vs The South aspect as an additional source of bizarre hatred for ND.

That's not the resentment I'm talking about, but there's a forum for that and this isn't it.

Well, your religious aspects are genuine. You are aware we once threw a fish from the stands at Grant Field?

Well that direction of animosity is the same. And if it isn’t you know some weird Catholics.

Looking down your nose at someone else is a different kind of resentment. It is peculiar how one group of people who feel oppressed are always quick to find someone they themselves can condescend toward.

Funny how JFK made a whole group of people forget that they themselves rioted in New York against entering the Civil War to free slaves, resisted bussing like hell in Boston, that Boss Hogg's small town corruption was novice in comparison to Chicago and Tammany Hall, and hillbilly bootleggers were amateurs at crime compared to the North's ethnic gangs. But for once, he allowed them to feel morally superior to another group and from my experience with transplants, that attitude is persistent.

Of course, I would add generally rural Midwesterners are not the rude dickheads that urban Northeasterners are.

Irrespective of any GT stuff, I hate ND because of their “special snowflake” status in college football. Their own TV deal, their own licensing separate from all the other NCAA teams, their position as a not-really ACC member, their perpetual overratedness, etc.

Plus, the few times I’ve ever needed them to win (U[sic]GA 1980, Colorado 1990), they wet the bed.

öööö ND, they’ll always be #1a on the hate list behind the Dwags.

Not to worry, Clempsen will show them the door, suspensions or no suspensions.

Okay Snowflake. Running up scores, "givin' people the business" in scrimmage pileups, ND ushers cussing at & spitting on GT players in South Bend have nothing to do with religion. Get a grip - recess is over.

BTW, our Catholic players, most of whom either played for St Pius or Marist in Atlanta or Trinity, et al, in Louisville, hated ND as a football team. ND with their "special status, even in the ACC, not to mention the FCS, is what makes most hate ND the football team. TV deals? Long before they had live broadcasts on NBC, their games were syndicated & replayed nationally with Lindsey Nelson and Paul Hornung doing the play by play.

Like the Dwags, in the modern era, they usually win the "February National Championship," only to choke at crunch time.

Religion? Hell no. Football? Hell Yes.

As for the context of Dodd's quote, he was referring to a national branding.

And how do you explain this Methodist (AKA Catholic-Lite) not caring a damn about ND the football team?

I'd add ND is hated perhaps more than us by their fellow Catholics at BC.

He goes to ND. Douchebag

ND is a dangerous opponent for Clemzon

Huge OL that is great at run blocking and they run with power, the power run then sets up their play-action passing

Dangerous opponent all the way around, don't sleep on ND

Wide curriculum and Liberal Arts majors notwithstanding, ND is the gold standard when it comes to combining Athletics & Academics

The GTAA would resort to devil worshiping and summoning the "Crossroads Demon" (Supernatural reference) to have the CFB legacy that ND has

FB players might not be as "book smart" as we want them to be, but they are "FB smart" and those guys in the locker room want to win vs. what you call a delicate balance

Those FB smart players know that the guys we have at QB ain't P5 level passers and they'll probably never develop the arm talent to be P5 level passers, the delicate balance guys in the locker room are FB smart enough to know this

The players will be fine, they want Grad Transfer help at QB because they want to win, the worst sport to lose at is FB, you're already physically beat up, you don't want to lose on top of that

So they ran up the score and tickled you in the pile, got sweet TV deals that you wished we had. And I’m the snowflake? You’ve done nothing but prove my point.

Dodd respected ND way more than Bama or Missisissippi programs. And GT fans should too.
