Paul Johnson deserved better.

I actually don't want Monken because I think he is too old. I was a Collins fan until the hype machine got ridiculous. If he doesn't win 8 games and pull in a top 20 recruitin' class next year you guys will have some explaining to do.

Expecting 3-4 wins each of the next two years in my expectation. Hoping by the end of 2020, we see a lot of improvement with 25 freshmen playing lots of minutes. Goal is a bowl game in 2021. Hopefully win 8 in 2021.

We should not finish in the bottom of the ACC with a healthy roster. We have lots of talent on this team. There’s just no “sauce” for lack of a better term. The kids didn’t want to play for Coach Johnson. I think Coach Collins will settle between 7-9 wins each year including bowls. I don’t think he will ever beat UGA and that will be his undoing. I think we will make the ACC Championship Game twice in his tenure. I think this will make lots of fans happy because we will have NFL players they can cheer for and we will be sooo close to getting over the hump. But 8 in a row to UGA will be tough to swallow.

And to think we were inches away from 4 in a row against the Dawgs under Johnson and we still have people blasting the option. So dumb.

Eh. No, he still needs to win a lot more than he loses, long-term. Gailey had conformity and put people in the NFL, but 7-6 still got old pretty quickly.

Chan Gailey finished better than 7-6 in four of his six years here, and Paul Johnson finished better than 7-6 in five seasons, even though he was here five years longer.

Chan Gailey never finished worse than 7-6, while Paul Johnson finished worse than 7-6 four different times in 11 years.

Take away the first two seasons of each man, which I think should be standard when evaluating college coaches, Chan won 60% of his games and Paul won 54%. IIWII. Chan never got to coach the redshirt freshmen of the magical 2007 recruiting class, and I think he would have comfortably exceeded 7-6 if he had. Some wonder what Bobby Ross's legacy at GT would have been if he had been fired after 1989. I am glad we did not fire that coach one year too early.

The ACC Coastal is no juggernaut. I don't expect 8+ wins the first couple of years, but I'll be a little disappointed with back-to-back 4-8.

What numbers you got for the next Powerball drawing?

Or maybe he made a decision based upon the future he projected. Wait a minute, did you say you support Collins? If I didn't know any better, I'd say you want him to fail so you can try to rub it in people's faces. Really pathetic. Take a look in the mirror. I can promise you if Monken got hired, I didn't want to keep the option, but I'd have been supportive, probably jazzed after the way Army looked in their bowl game. Too bad you can't say the same.

I defended CPJ endlessly too. But I guess I'm just a childish Pollyanna because I have a positive outlook about the future.

I will be juiced (not jazzed) if our head coach never shows up on our sideline during a game wearing Carolina blue and a Dean Smith jacket ever again. I will be juiced if the TNR produces, even if not to the level of the hype; but I won't crap on the TNPR if things don't work out unless it goes B*** L**** bad.

Unlike PJ, he actually wears some gold too (since we're nitpicking about attire).

I think Bilbo may have ended up a pretty good QB if he had Friedgen or O'Brien as his OC throughout his career.

Bilbo had an undisclosed injury to his thumb that lingered. He literally could not take snaps under center for most of his career and had to play out of the shotgun. (It was tragi-comical when we had a center that was also fighting an undisclosed injury that prevented him from controlling his deep snaps.) Bilbo lost accuracy due to this injury. You old fartekers may remember all the passes he let sail over the receivers.

At this time we did not know how to effectively run out of the shotgun. No one else did, either. Mebbe some guy at Nevada. So we were screwed. Shame, since Bilbo had great natural talent.

I will be more than a little disappointed with a 4-8 season barring a rash of injuries. If we have back to back less than 6 win seasons there better be some top 20 recruiting classes to give us hope.

I don't expect Top 20 recruiting classes coming in the door, and never said that. I expect more along the lines of 25-30, much better than 50 something which puts us at the level of AAC talent.

Do you really believe this? I see so little talent especially on the DL and OL. CGC will have to win on scheme alone meaning blitzing, blitzing some more, and then creating new blitzes. I do think our ST will be much improved even though PJ is leaving us with a helluva kicker.

Maybe it was a tribute to the recruit he just flipped from UNC.

But yeah, attire is totally the #1 priority, so keep taking passive-aggressive shots at CGC while insisting you want him to succeed.

He (CGC) is who he is. Just like PJ. To thine own self be true.

You need to watch Virginia, Pitt and Duke. They aren't anymore talented than us. UNC, Miami and VT all have talent that underperformed.
