ESPN Article on our Program Direction

"When I was here before, we were on College GameDay, we were a top-10 program, Bobby Dodd was filled, every game had implications in the league, every game had implications nationally," he said. "That's how I know this place, and that's how I want this place to be. And I know it can be because I've lived it and I've breathed it.

"We're going to go forward under those parameters."

When was the last time Gameday came to GT? All I remember was being on Gameday at VT with that game being cancelled and Lee Corso's car got struck by lightning.

2006 for Norte Dame, when we lost because of a goober penalty call, I think it was late hit out of bounds that was not...

‘06 ND i believe. Got to help pull Buzz into the student section for that one.

Yep. There were two epic signs in the back. One showed Rudy offsides with a flag being thrown, and the other photoshopped Brady Quinn's head onto Dr. Quinn Medecine Woman hugging that burly dude. Someone here probably has pictures.

We lost because the officials stopped calling holding in the second half. Our DL was unstoppable , unless you tackled them, which they did.

The next year we went to their house and beat them something like 33-6 (probably not the right score; but close).

I was in the stands for both. Was awesome watching us completely man-handle them in South Bend after the bogus call(s) in BDS the year before.

Went back and looked. There was not a "targeting" penalty back then, but the hit was def helmet to helmet. Not even sure if that was a hard and fast rule back then either. Def not late or OOB however. In the fog of my memory of that game, I thought that occurred much later than it did. To be sure, it had an effect on the game without question, but it was about halfway thru 3Q.

I remember now. It was Phillip Wheeler who get hit with that helmet to helmet. God, what a turning point.

I seem to remember their QB tried to duck a tackle and lowered his head to where his chest would be, so our defender that was aiming for his chest ended up going helmet to helmet. Bunch of horse öööö if you ask me.

I got banned from the ND board that prior week

This. And the lack of holding calls that were obvious. Someone posted a picture on here with all four of our DL being held from behind on a play and no flag.

I took a train from Washington to South Bend to see that game. ND fans trash talked - not like how the dwags trash talk, more like how an arrogant snob would - condescending, not taking us seriously, etc. They were nice and very accomodating but we were cannon fodder for them. Until kickoff. We absolutely destroyed them. Jonathan Dwyer's breakout game.

The suicide hotline in South Bend was hoppin' after that game. :heelclick:

I fondly remember that 2007 game. IIRC Tech was getting 3 points, which was ridiculous as I knew we were going to
kick their butts. I loaded up on the Jackets and the gift points - $$$ - a real nice weekend.

Juice on juice in juice or juice

I think it was as good of a hire as Tech could do. I'm glad GT got him. He won't pull recruits away from us or Bama, but Collins will cost our weaker opponents like Florida, Tennessee and Auburn.

Why are you on our board? Get the öööö out and go find something to do in that öööö-hole town you rep.

Dude hasn't even won a ööööing game yet. This is the media's way to dismantle the CPJ tenure. The media hated him and they are doing everything in their power to make it seem GT was irrelevant for the past 9 seasons, something that isn't remotely true. In 06 we got lucky and had 2 college gamedays, due to the quality of opponents, and we lost both of them. Attendance was no god damn worse or better under gailey. Tired of the media's railroading of CPJ.

Let us not forget that the infallible Collins lost to Villanova last season, and jumped ship before end of his contract.

This along with the SEC mentality that he wants us to have has really dampened my mood.
