Does ND have a "puncher's chance" this weekend?

I know I'm alone in the regard that I like ND. Grandad was a fan and they will always be my #2 team after Tech. I hope that ugag over indulged in sec hype and ND stuns them and guts out a win. Not likely but ND doesn't suck.

I remember "how bad" ugag was going to beat Texas and then Bevo happened. Here's hoping ND has something up their green sleeves.

Outside of Saturday's game with Temple (which should remain the focus) and the Braves push to clinch, there is obviously a very large sport event in Georgia this weekend.

I would very much like to not be inundated with articles and blogs and radio segment after radio segment praising Georgia football on Monday. Looking at the game logically, is there a way ND escapes with a W or even beats their ass?
Nope

To be fair, the board is full of great college football fans and we all discuss coaches and games that have nothing to do with Tech.

I don't think the topic is out of line, but if the moderators deem it bad, I'll apologize and will take my ban accordingly.
Nah, it's just we're all grieving over Citadel. Note that there's no "Other College Sports" forum. You're in the right place, just at the wrong time.

You know, they have been hearing all year and ALL WEEK how bad the mutts are going to run all over them and beat them. And that they can't ever beat someone worth a crap. You don't think that's a motivator? On paper ugag should beat them easily but I think the alter boys make a game of it.
Part of that nomenclature is correct unfortunately.

They’ve got a puncher’s chance about like Glass Joe fighting Mike Tyson.

1. If ND loses, they're probably out of the title picture (barring major upsets elsewhere). This is about the only silver lining to the game.

2. However, if mutts lose they can still back in if they somehow win out yet lose to 'Bama in SEC-CG. Which is 100% BS. öööö 'em - I hope there's a huge rainstorm on the game that just soaks everyone and makes all of 'em even more miserable than the miserable öööös they already are, esp. if Shame manages to pull a miracle out of its ass.
It is 1980 all over again.

-14.5 should be line for each half. It won’t be close. And that’s not because Georgia is that good. ND is a regular ole’ good-not-great football program, and they have been for the past 25 years. They don’t don’t belong and won’t soon belong in the CFB Playoff discussion.
Sooner or later ND will have to become a full member of the ACC and win a conference championship like the rest of us in order to prove they are a CFB playoff contender.
Georgia will expose them badly again tonight. But as a Jacket and ACC guy I can at least have some satisfaction that The CFB playoff committee knows those snobs have no business thumbing their noses at The ACC like they are too good to become a full member.

Please stop with this

Most years ND plays THE TOUGHEST sked in the Country

ND has never played a Minor League, D1-AA Program, now called FCS, our most recent beloved HC would have played TWO EACH YEAR if he could get away with it

Most years ND plays 11 P5 Teams and 1 G5 Team (Navy), although this yr they play 2 G5 teams

What would our yearly record look like if GT had the same scheduling philosophy?

So even though ND isn't in a Conference, their 11 P5 games is substantially equal to a Conference Member that plays 8 Conf games+ 1 OoC Rival+ 1 CCG

Based on my Math ND's 11 P5 games is still one more P5 game than all Conferences except for the Pac12

Also if ND joins the ACC they're gonna come into the Metro ATL Area and out recruit us for 4* & higher Academic Qualifiers

We NEED for ND to stay independent in FB for as long as possible

If we at GT wanna scoff at their scheduling, let's approach them with a 20 year home & home , I bet they'd love that and something tells me that we would never do that

In summary ND should be commended for the way they schedule

Some of this is accurate, some is speculative, and some of it is wrong. ND plays 2-3 G5 teams every year--Navy and 1-2 others. There may have been a year where they only played 1 G5 team, but if so, that's an outlier.
