At least CGC can recruit. We can get around the coaching ineptitude with a better OC hire.

I did. Suggs’ longest pass equaled Ball’s entire pass yardage in 2006. Both had about -10 yards in sacks. Even Bilbo in 2002 had better numbers than Reggie in the 2002 game. 2006 was just an epically bad performance.
Suggs and Bilbo played the game in 2002 like they were scared to death of UGAg, and it showed on the scoreboard

Reggie in 2006 had an NFL caliber defense and Calvin Johnson and was responsible for more UGA points than he was for GT YARDS. And 80,000 fans chanted "Reggie Reggie Reggie" as he left the field.

I feel really sorry for the guy.

We were lucky to win the three we did last year. We were an eyelash from being 0-12. Maybe Vegas is right about this year at 2.5.
Undisciplined football is a direct result of coaching.
Collins is getting 3 and change million a year. He better have his bearings set straight already.
The most difficult aspect in changing from the triple to whatever this is is the linemen. CGC and crew need an entirely different body type and skill set along the line — even with Quinney being 6-6, DeFoor at 6-5, Charlie Clark at 6-4 and Mikey Minihan at 6-3. The skill pieces were there — Mason, Carter, Harris and Sanders all have looked good in new roles. CPJ left CGC two 4 star QBs (per rivals) in Yates and Graham, neither of whom ran the PJ offense in high school. They were shotgun and spread guys.
So other than the line, the transition is ... overblown. Besides, buried deep in a Ken Suguira story last year was something from the current coaches saying how pleasantly surprised they were at the skill level of players they inherited.
I understand a new coaching regime is going to take some time to get its imprint. But the turnovers and penalties and blown assignments reveal a lack of attention to detail somewhere. And that somewhere is happening from Sunday through Friday. And that's on Collins.
It's when we lose and look bad doing it that irritates me. Other than Virginia last year, we've looked bad doing it for the other 10 losses of Collins' short time as head coach at Tech. I still see the one guy who dictated getting any coverage whatsoever in the Georgia game last year running free down the field and even Jake Fromm being capable of finding him and hitting him for a TD. I still see a school record of punts that game. I still see Bud Foster squashing this offense in his last visit to The Flats. I still see The Citadel, a mediocre at best FCS team, celebrating wildly on Grant Field.
And I see 15 penalties and five turnovers against a really bad Syracuse team from just barely 48 hours ago.
We can have all the talent in the world, but if the coaching stinks, well, you're Florida State or Miami of the previous decade. I also could not care less what our players' pro prospects are. I invest my time and resources to see them win on Saturdays, and the occasional Thursday. Now Friday, too, thanks to Swofford.
Well we obviously disagree on the impact the transition should garner. The bad losses last year weren't quite as embarrassing I suppose because I had lower expectations. Were the losses frustrating? Hell yes. You use the examples of the Citadel, Va. Tech, and even the Georgia game and they were painful to watch. I'll tell you what was far more painful to witness. Watching CPJ's last game in Athens when the dwags could of beaten us 75 - 7 that day if they wanted to. Everyone in the building knew that CPJ would / could never beat a Georgia or a Clemson caliber team again. That game more than any made CPJ see the writing on the wall and the rest is history. That game was 20x more painful than a game where we were down by ten at the half. In 2018 if you remember we were down 38 - 7 at the half and this was no rebuild. No quite yet.

Don't get me wrong Saturday's loss was as ugly as they get. Improvement needs to be shown and CGC should be held accountable but lets stop holding his feet to the fire for last year. That year should be remembered as a complete wash and we should just be happy that's it's over. Lets heighten our expectations in year two and hope that the Syracuse game was rock bottom.

We have been terrible last season and this season, getting crushed in every loss, except for The Citadel as we scared them by only
losing a close one--that will teach The Citadel by scheduling us as we are no longer an easy win for them as we can almost compete
with The Citadel. Maybe The Citadel will schedule us for their homecoming and we can surprise them by giving them a tough game.
Our head coach needs to return 50% of his salary to the university.
We don't need a golden shower bike on the sidelines.
We don't need players lifting weights on the field before a game.
We don't need a grease fire white board for defensive players to sign after a turnover.
We don't need an award for the player on the sideline to win the most fired up cheerleader.
We don't need the orange colored tackling dummies (not referring to our coaches) during the warmup.

Everyone in the building knew that CPJ would / could never beat a Georgia or a Clemson caliber team again.
Over the last five full seasons, Clemson is 69-5. They have lost two regular season conference games in that span. That means three of those five previous seasons they did not lose a conference game. Let that sink in.
We are not the only ones not in their league. So is everybody else not named Alabama and Ohio State.
That 2018 Georgia team was 11-1 in the regular season. All 11 wins came by at least 14 points. They got smoked in Baton Rouge and they lost by 7 in the SECCG to Bammy. So they weren't bad. And don't forget that was right after they were one blown coverage away from being national champs (New York Islanders fans use to taunt New York Rangers with 19-40! We oughta go 19-80!)
I also still think Collins does bear a great deal of culpability for last year's record. We were closer to 0-12 than to 6-6. We also looked bad against Temple and the Duke game also was pretty much over at halftime. The Pitt (which was pretty bad on offense last year) and UNC games (the latter of which they pulled away late) weren't really much in doubt in the second half, either.

Collins may be able to recruit. But can good players overcome bad coaching? My empirical evidence (Miami, FSU, Louisville under Petrino the last year - that team checked out on him) says .. no.
I hope he proves me wrong about his coaching ability and acumen. But I haven't been impressed through 15 games. And this isn't a "he'll grow into it" kind of gig. He's getting $3M and change a year. He better know what he's doing, in all aspects, from the jump.

But right now, auburn is making me sick to my stomach.

Only really fully disagree on one point. The salary thing doesn't really mean anything. It can be a grow into it thing or really a desperate hire thing. The number is more about the school showing its resources and commitment. I feel if we got a coach for half the price, there would be a big narrative around the program that we were trying to be cheap. I think that's kind of the state college football is in.

We appreciate you making it obvious that you have absolutely no clue what you’re talking about. Thanks for clearing that up.

At least we’re closing the gap on the mighty Syracuse and Central Florida Power houses.
I’m so glad our fans turned on our coaching staff in a little over a season.
Somebody needed to hold them accountable.
it’s completely understandable with all the talent they had to work with.
I mean even though we changed schemes and had a roster built to haven’t had a player drafted in years, everyone knows we had studs starting at QB and all along the oline last season.
I don’t understand why these freshman and sophomores are playing so much.
It’s almost like the coaching staff think even as 18/19 year old kids that they give us a better chance to win then the studs we had coming back.
We should of promoted Sewak and stayed with the triple option.
That’s all I heard in the high schools I go too.
Kids were raving about GT.
Now all I hear is this 404 crap and how it’s pretty cool to try to build something in Atlanta.
its pretty obvious we haven’t improved at all on offense.
Ya we are averaging more yards/points but the turnovers are up and we look unprepared every single game.
It’s like the coaches are using this season as a building block for something better instead of playing upperclassmen that may get us to 5 or 6 wins.
They have no clue how to build a sustainable program with coaches coming from Alabama and Florida and the like.
What a complete ööööshow.

am I doing it right?

Is the number of FR/SO we’re playing disproportionately high right now relative to other teams? Our roster is pretty young but I only count 17 from the Game 1 ATL chart having been in our 19/20 classes. Only 5 from the 20 class. Think a few more had been added to the chart for the Cuse game due to injuries.

Sims and Gibbs are high visibility frosh playing so it seems like we’re going full future. But the comfortable majority of the guys seeing the field appears to be upperclassmen. Which makes sense (lost spring 2020).

Salary really shouldn't be a point for critique. He is on a mid-pack ACC salary and our staff, outside of Key, are on "show me" contracts or giving us hometown discounts. A lot of coaches, particularly proven ones, did not want to take on this transition.

I haven’t looked at the numbers to check but I’d say having a QB,RB, and RT that are all 18 years old would be pretty rare but maybe not.
