I'm a Tech fan first, so I'm pulling for Coach Collins to succeed, but in Paul Johnson's first two seasons we:
1. Beat uga
2. Beat Clemson 3 times.
3. Won the Coastal Division
4. Won an ACC Championship
5. Went to a Peach Bowl
6. Went to an Orange Bowl
If we do any of these things once in the next two seasons, I'll be pretty satisfied.

There's nothing the staff has said that isn't said by coaches all over the country when taking over a job. There are exceptions, like if you're replacing Urban Meyer or Bob Stoops, but typically you're going to emphasize things like a culture change, playing more physical, etc. and even if it's not necessarily meant to be, all of those things imply that the previous regime wasn't getting it done.

Some coaches are artful about it, but others, like Spurrier, will just straight up say that they need better players than the ones they have.

For the most part I agree but I have never heard a coach talk about how great the talent was at the school he left. Collins did this a lot in his first year

I tried looking for this, couldn't find it. Perhaps you could post some links for everyone to peruse.
It’s somewhat time consuming to point to specific examples as they were done in the midst of 20 minute pressers. But look at the post game of the temple game in 2019 and the post game pressers after the few games following that’s one.

I too got the impression he was hyping temple.

This has been beaten to death but there's not really much to compare between what the two inherited and Clemson and Georgia were not perennial top 5 programs to start the year. Hate to say it too but I will. If CPJ was here in 2019 he wasn't sniffing anything on your list either. Hence him moving on. It wasn't fun anymore.

About the only thing that didn't result from the great first two seasons was an uptick in recruiting. If recruits had followed the winning, it really could have been an epic run (by GT standards). Still a great run and CPJ has a lot to be proud of.

Georgia was consensus pre-season #1 in both the AP and Coaches polls. Clemson was top 10.

BTW: We started unranked due to the transition we were going through and ended top 25.

Listen thanks for your insight and I know the historical significance of this time can't be overstated and I have read about it. I lived though it as a child and don't remember the way I'm sure you do. I just think the similarities of the situations would give CGC a little leeway instead of doing the opposite. I guess Curry worked out for a couple of great years so it was worth it. I wonder if CGC has the same success will the fans forget about the first two years or will they stand they're ground and remind us of the Citadel game in 2019 and the Clemson game in 2020?
Curry had one pretty good year. And 2 other years where he was 6-5. That was all.

The UGA team was preseason nbr 1 and had one of the most talented teams in the the history of the school, if not the most talented. It might be the best UGA team that GT has ever beaten and is easily the best team that we've beaten in the modern era. The Clemson teams that we beat those years were talented but not in the same class as the ones that Collins played.

This thread has provided ample evidence that @Old-Fashioned UGA Hater talks mostly out of his ass. Dude needs to lurk and stop posting.
Well 00Burdell lets talk some facts you öööö stain. Since you know it all apparently lets take a look at 2008 and maybe give you a reminder or two. UGA would finish the season with three losses and rank 13th overall in the AP Poll after winning the Capital One Bowl. Hardly a top five or even ten finish. Clemson on the other hand was UNRANKED and finished the season 7-6 with a loss to Nebraska in the Gator Bowl. Oh so scary those Tigers were! Looks like your point you brought up kind of ended up working the opposite I may say. May want to check your history books next time fellas instead of whacking each other off.

Look at you go. Next thing you know you'll dog our '90 UVA win cause they finished unranked.

You are why people hate Tech fans.
