Is there a team in the ACC with more running back talent than GT right now? I'd say Clemson, maybe UNC?

Gibbs would start anywhere. Mason and Smith would start most places. Griffin looked a lot quicker than in the past, and if it was more than just my eyes, with this added quickness he will be right up there with Mason and Smith. The room is LOADED. Time for a bunch of 2-back sets.

No reason not to see 2 of them on the field at the same time a lot this year, they all look good out of the backfield catching passes, id like to see some motion out and 1on1's with linebackers

This roster is a winning roster. Should have above average OL, superb RBs, above average QB with high ceiling, and enough weapons at WR for our offense to have the edge against most of the defenses we will face. It appears that the DL will be much improved as well especially the pass rush.

If our team executes and avoids self inflicted wounds/penalties, we SHOULD win at least seven. I think this roster can beat NIU, KSU, Pitt, Duke, UVA, BC. UNC/VT/Miami should be close games that we can win. Notre Dame, Clemson, uga are stretches.

FWIW - I think Athens is in for a rude awakening. They haven’t seen us since 2019, and we played them very close in the first half that year until the depth disparity took over. The talent gap is the smallest it’s been in a long time and should continue to shrink.
Love the enthusiasm. But, until we see it on the field it’s very hard to believe we are more than a 3-5 win team. To say our OLine is above average we have to at least show we are near average. Last season we were far from average so how we go from not being close to average to above average with no games played isn’t something I believe. How do you think our QB is a over average? That means he is in the upper 50%. Last year our QB was ranked 84 in passing efficiency and 94th in completion percentage. Point is I agree the upside is there but until he gets it done it’s a hope and a dream. And for our defense, I’m waaaay past the point of buying into any hype. I’ve seen players come and go yet I’ve seen WR after WR run free and RB’s have their best game against GT. I’ll believe it when they do it. I hope it’s in 2021.

As for UGA, we all know what they are going to do. They are going to run at us with their big OLine and Daniels is gonna chuck it deep. GT has not been able to stop that combo for a long time.

Mostly agree here. It's good to see us making moves. DL was missing TK last year and now we have him back. Plus we swapped Emmanuel and Ryans for Makius Scott, Keion, and Kevin Harris. All good news. But having not seen a stout wall for 2 years (except 2020 FSU 4th qtr), I'll believe it when I see it. This is the #1 thing separating us from double-digit wins IMO. We have got to beat out the rest of the southeast for some top-flight DTs or everything on the field will continue to feel like trying to ice skate uphill.

OL I'm more optimistic about. It takes time to build a unit and the signs of growth were there last year, both physically and mentally. Emphasis this spring on penalties is also really encouraging.

Biggest worry for me right now is LB. We haven't had a Gary Guyton, Darrell Smith, or Phillip Wheeler type in years. I'm hoping that turns around. Watching Wheeler play was like watching a cat. Always balanced.

Shaw Industries has a lot of GT grads and Bud Shaw, although long gone, was a pretty big donor back in the day. Shaw had an inside track in getting a field put in. Our field always looked great until the last season of natural grass. IMO, we let the field turn to öööö to justify Shaw getting their crappy turf in there
Fully agree that grass looks and plays better. However, part of the rationale is $$ from non-football. We can host concerts in the summer which has a ton of benefits:

- More $$ for less maintenance cost
- Exposure of our campus to the south at large
- Brand Help
- Helps Recruiting

I really wish they would end the stupid "airport" you can bring in a gallon ziplock bag of.....well....nothing. we went from clear bags with if you want to bring in a drink and snack that is fine to "hey, you can bring in a gallon ziplock bag of air, if you like"
GT doesn't even accept the clear bags into the stadium that GT sells as clear bags that are allowed to be taken into the stadium. We had one of the small clear bags we bought from GT with us on Friday. They ended up allowing us to bring it in after I said "just throw the damn thing away" and pointed at the garbage can. I guess the security guard realized how damn stupid the rule was when he wasn't allowing a perfectly clear, empty, small bag in because it now HAS to be a gallon ziplock bag.

My GF was using it to carry her wallet, but the bag was empty at the time so she could show them she just had her wallet.

Stupid damn rules.

FWIW, last year I saw an elderly lady get refused at the gate because of her small purse. She volunteered to let them search it, but nope, take it to the car or check it somewhere, I guess. Just dumb.

Yeah, I don’t get the switch from the official bag to a Ziploc. Any guesses what the rationale might be? It’s smaller, it’s sealable, it’s harder to carry. Covid-wise, I guess it limits how much stuff you can bring in and sorta but not really keeps it sealed up and isolated. I dunno, I’m just not sure what’s driving the switch.

They want concession stand money. Especially now that they sell booze.

Only 2 years? Feels like it's been since 2008.

That’s an argument for not letting you bring in food and water, but they’d already stopped that before they switched from the old clear bag to the Ziploc bag.

Nah. Sims was smooth. He looked much improved.
What I noticed with Sims was improved footwork. Some of that was no doubt due to better protection. But I also saw him shuffle and slide some in the pocket while staying square/keeping eyes downfield, then stand tall and throw some strikes with good accuracy and zip.

Peery to me looked relaxed and that allowed him to take what was there and make some plays. Didn't try and do too much which is a good sign for a young QB. I think he sees the field well and has good presence. I didn't see the same zip on the ball as Sims, and I didn't think Peery's footwork was as crisp as Sims. IMO Peery's arm strength and quickness of his release are together good enough that if he throws with accuracy and timing in going through his progressions he can be very effective. Running he is fast enough to make a defense pay for not respecting the QB run. I am pretty pleased with what I see out of him. With this limited sample size he looks like a back up who could play this season if called upon and have some effectiveness moving the offense.

McGowen and Gibbs are going to be really helpful to both young QBs.

Also pleased to see Yates looks improved as well. If he keeps getting better—and I think he will--he will also provide valuable depth, as well as competition.

FWIW - We were down 17-0 at the end of the first quarter. We had 2 drives out of 8 in the first half that went over 6 yards. I think our biggest offensive play of the first half was when UGA fumbled a punt.

We also had a missed field goal and a dropped pick six though. I don’t think we had the horses to win that game either way but it could have easily been a tie game at the half.
