Fire Thacker

Perhaps the worst Tech D we've seen in a while.
And yes, that includes some of the stinkbombs we saw during the PJ era.
Virginia went through us like s--- through a tin horn.
And that's after Pitt did the same. Hell, Duke's offense which UVa shut out (and UVa is now 96th in the nation in total defense. 96th) looked competent against us.

We had 8 sacks against UNC. We had 4 total through all our other games going into tonight. Did we ever get any pressure on Armstrong tonight?
Never laid a hand on him with the 3-man rush. Got to him a couple times on blitzes, but genius Thacker rarely called them.

Our HC is supposed to be a defensive guy. Wasn't he supposed to be really good with the secondary?

Whatever this system is that Thacker is running is not working. 3 down linemen aren’t getting enough penetration or gap coverage and he is asking a lot of the linebackers. The linebacker mismatch was open all game and flushing them out made for easy running lanes. I don’t know why Collins is allowing this experiment to continue.

100% agree

I think he realizes our 3 LB are some of our better defensive players. Trying to find a way to get them all on the field, but with the spread offenses you really need more DBs and less LBs. Our solution has been to take a DL out and keep the LBs on.

I think we play the run well in general terms, but our pass rush and pass coverage are bottom of the barrel. Very disappointed our defense can’t give us anything. Should be able to luck into a stop or two.

He needs to go can’t get any damn pressure Idk if we even blitzed at all last night. Is tenuta available

You forgot the corner blitz that was easily picked up and then Brennan Armstrong threw directly into the vacated CB area for a 50+ yard gain.

Can those 3 take on OL and plug holes? Even if you keep all 3 in for every play you still need someone who can do that. Do it with linemen, do it with backers, but do it or fail.

That is fine if you rush at least one of the LB on every play. Otherwise the defensive linemen are double teamed on every play.

No argument from me. Clearly it worked well against Clemson and UNC, but we've been terrible defensively ever since. Had the BYE week to get a better plan. Did not.

I haven't gone back to watch closely, but I'm pretty sure I saw 2 LBs spying the QB on multiple plays. The LBs were just standing 8 yards off the ball after the snap.

need to give the coaches some time. it takes 8 or 9 years to undo the destruction that the CPJ administration and his backwards offense has done to the GT program. It will take another 4-5 years of the breakfast shop, juice, helicopter'n and cruitin' to have a chance to get to .500. Fans need to exercise patience as we go through this period of incredible change. Imo, it will take two full recruiting cycles to get there. I'm checking the 2028 schedule right now and feel like we're in a strong position to go 7-5, with key out-of-conference wins over Western Illinois and Strayer University.

Clemson and UNC are apparently terrible at passing though. When we face a decent quarterback it shows. Which is why we’re going to beat uga.

Thacker sure talks like he knows what he is doing. Wonder if he is free to run the defense or is under Collins thumb. Also, if the other d coaches are subpar then he is not getting help from them.

Womack->Groh->Roof->Woody->Thacker has been a helluva run.

This is why I find it being solely a coaching thing so improbable. Are we really continuing a chain of such DCs for that long and even across different head coaches?

I wonder if he's only running the front half of the defense and the Co-DC is running the back half.
