A Crucial Three Weeks

You don’t know what you see on here, apparently. I don’t have a strong opinion about Sims. To the extent that I’ve said anything about him, I’ve gone out of my way to say that he’s performed well the last several games minus a couple of key mistakes.

I guess I just have enough mental bandwidth to consider multiple viewpoints. He looks really good sometimes. He makes bad, costly mistakes sometimes. It’s fair to look the whole picture and not just the stat line, and come away with a nuanced opinion. This simple-minded “if you don’t love him you hate him” bullshit doesn’t prove anything or lead to any kind of interesting discussion.

And I said his pick was a bad read and that hopefully he can be taught to recognize that coverage. I'm not going to give him extra TD stats for a TD pass that was called back to a penalty anymore than I am going to blame him for an interception that was overturned due to penalty. Neither play counted in the stats.

I mean, hypothetically getting caught by the cops with 10 pounds of weed or something doesn’t show up in the stats either, but it would still be a useful data point for assessing a player’s decision making ability.

My goal for this team and this staff is to, at some point, win two games in a row. I don’t think that’s too much to ask

ND and UGA
It could be VT, Miami or Miami, BC. I don’t care. No tech team had not won back to back games in a season since 1994. Now it has happened two years in a row. Hoping that streak will be broken this year to show some improvement in consistency.

This team can beat UGA. Not because we're that great, but because we're a bad matchup for them.

Us mediocre defense vs. Them mediocre offense
Us potent offense vs. Them good defense

I say this as someone who has picked the correct winner in every game except UNC
I have a feeling we’re gonna beat uga too and it’s gonna be hilarious. Nothing to lose 4-7 Jackets vs eyes on Benz 11-0 dwags. They’re gonna come here stoned and drunk expecting to score 90 and go home with some weird 8-10 loss to Tech.

or they’re gonna score 90. One of the two is happening.

Maybe / maybe not. If he hyped up Money down and delivered like EBT down....yeah, they'd want him gone.
Bad analogy, every time an EBT card is swiped the folks in line in front of me walk out the Door with their Groceries, so there must be enough Money in the account to cover all those purchases.

My guess is no EBT card has ever rejected a purchase for insufficient funds, yet the last HC (your Hero) up & quit over insufficient Recruiting.

Why it's it always one or the other? It is possible to hate Collins and Johnson. It's possible to like them both.

Collins has strengths and weaknesses. You can criticize things he has done and still support him. Bringing up concerns about Collins doesn't automatically mean you want Johnson and the option back.

I liked Johnson but his recruiting left us in a hole. Collins is recruiting better but his coaching ability/record is concerning.
How do you know anything about CGC's coaching when very weak interior Lines on both sides of the ball severely limits what a coach can do?

Too many GT Fans give answers like, "well he shoulda ran a different play if the blocking is bad over there" , but they never say which different play should be called.

If they were baseball coaches, their advice would be "hit em where they ain't".

To summarize, many of these CGC critics have no real answers, they just enjoy complaining and refuse to analyze and identify WHY things go wrong

and apparently you haven't watched Sims
I'd take Justin Thomas in his spot right now and never look back. (and do it without the "intangible" height etc)
Dude you are delusional.

Completing passes in the high 40% range maybe low 50% doesn't cut it anymore, he can't outrun everything like he did back then, new blocking rules.

Just because the Team won, doesn't mean that JT5 is a serviceable QB in 2021.

Only an idiot that doesn't know anything about CFB thinks JT5 is a better QB than Sims, JT5 was the right guy at that moment in time, not a better QB in 2021 where everyone is up tempo-ing things forcing 2014 style offenses to keep up with the opposition.

JT5 would get exposed in today's P5 CFB!

LOL...mine too. However they can't buy everything I can with $$$....limited options. It works but it's limited (that's the analogy) but thanks

Apparently, you haven't watched much of Nix. He sucks
Except for the fact that Sims plays in the ACC Coastal and Nix has grown up in the hardest division of the hardest conference and still managed to Win.... Yeah, I guess I'm stupid. (and since you kick your rocks of on recruiting...Nix was the #1 dual threat qb in the nation out of HS. I guess he won there too

But then again it doesn't take much to realize that you're just another keyboard warrior who probably hasn't graduated to wiping his own @$$ and with that, I'm in the wrong for engaging in a back and forth. You take care of yourself JrJacket

If you can't admit that Collins GameDay coaching needs improvement then I don't know what to tell you. All the wft clock management moments, the team looking totally unprepared at times, his losses to weaker teams here and at temple and his overall coaching resume is concerning.

What part of his resume proves that those concerns are not valid? He has a proven record of being a good recruiter and maybe even a good coordinator, but what part of his head coaching history suggest that we shouldn't be concerned with his coaching ability?

Like I said in earlier post, you can support him but still admit they have weaknesses.

He had a track record before he got here, no?

Post of the Thread! In our polarized stupor the Country is in, a ton of people will read your post and go....huh?

Was his pick a bad read that he can be taught to recognize next time......because it wasn't called back for a penalty? Hmmm

C'mon man, don't you know that if you are critical about Collins then that means you worship the ground CPJ walks on and want him back?

The fanboys think that because that’s how THEY think. It’s why people rationalize cheating, lying, stealing, etc. Everybody else does it so it must be ok. Only thing is not everybody else does it. Wrong is just wrong.

Good for you bitch. Am I on ignore now, bitch? Why not, punk ass bitch? How are you reading this, bitch, if I am not on ignore? Click on my name, bitch, ignore me forever
Yeah, like the rest of us...

Wait, never mind.

This is definitely a crucial 3 weeks. Before the UVA game, I thought that if we could win it would make me feel better about where we're at. If we had lost, I don't think that was as much as a negative as a win would have been a positive. But this week and the next 2 are games where losing would be more negative than winning would be positive. We've got 3 coin flip games left and need 3 wins to reach a bowl game. If we can get to 6 wins before ND, that would add a lot of momentum going into the offseason and hopefully make us that much better in 2022.
