THE OFFICIAL Firing, House Cleaning, Night of Long Knives, Celebration, Disappointment Thread.

AP classes can apparently bump you over 4.0. My high school was just adding AP my last couple of years (graduated in ‘88), but I don’t think we did 4.0+. But the valedictorian transferred in from a dinky Christian school with like a 4.2 somehow.

At my HS in Cobb, AP classes bumped you a full number (i.e. a B in an AP class was a 4.0). Makes the numbers really weird among the people taking large numbers of AP classes, to the point that the old 0-4 GPA system is obsolete.

My hunch is that the schools get money/get evaluated based on their AP participation numbers and juice it up in as many ways as possible to get kids to take the classes.

Also, college has gotten so expensive, many Kids use AP courses to exempt taking classes in College to save Money.

Most of us snobbish little know it all nerds are intelligent and disciplined enough to ignore repetitive bullshit that we don't want to waste our time reading, instead of crying about it. YMMV.

And, yes, I WILL have fries with that.
You aren’t intelligent and disciplined enough to not spew repetitive bullshit yourself though.

I don't know anything about Football or coaching or the internal dyamics of the team or what needs to be done.

All I know is that there has been NOTHING in the last three years to make me think anything will change.

I will HATE Clown Shoes for a long time, maybe forever. He has killed my love of GT football, so much so that I will not pass that love on to my kids. He could win a Natty next year and I will still call him an incompetant snake-oil salesman.
This post is all I need to know about you to determine you have nothing to add to any discussion about GT football. You are a moronic clown. Go join the other moronic clowns where you belong.

Yeah, I got out of all the English and history stuff (and Calc I) even with the limited AP offerings my high school had. Wasn’t great, though - I wouldn’t have minded easing into Tech with Calc I instead of II, and having those humanities classes would have broken stuff up a little. It still took me an extra quarter or two to graduate, since CE required 203 hours at the time and I didn’t go to school in the summer, but I wasn’t in any particular hurry.

Nah. He cries too much. And our staff already has enough predictable morons.
I liked Chan despite our play calls being off tackle right, off tackle left, incomplete pass, punt

Please. Collins is a clown and everybody knows it. You gonna defend him now? 100-0...
Nice strawman. Calling out "fans" that hate the coach so much they openly state they wouldn't care if he brought Tech a natty isn't "defending" Collins. That's not "fan" behavior to put hurt feelings above the success of the team. Collins is gone if 2022 is the same as 19-21

I don't give a flying frogs ass where he went to school. Part of our problem, as GT football fans, is the looking down our nose at anyone who potentially could be a fan. GT football has the image of being snobbish little know it all nerds. Doesn't help when a snobbish know it all nerd proves any potential fans right by being a snobbish asshole.

But good for you guys. Run off the recruits we are recruiting now being idiots. Run off the fanbase. Run off everyone. None of y'all are putting up the cash to do anything because most of you whiners are cheap bastards who are happy to cry, stamp your feet, complain, and wait for OTHER people to fund your tantrum.

The rational ones know Collins isn't going anywhere untill the end of next season, at earliest, and would much rather not have to read your same, repetitive bullshit for the next 8 months.
JJ, I love this post. I know we often disagree on here but you are an awesome fan. I’m turning over a new leaf. I think Collins is a terrible coach and shouldn‘t be our coach. But since TStan kept him I’ll sit back and watch the continuing dumpster fire until he is gone. But I’ll stop blasting him because it doesn’t help the situation and thankfully we have no more games for 9 months. And the going to GT thing is just stupid. I went to GT and it really wasn’t soul crushing academically even 30plus years ago. I’ll take any fans. My son is a current student at GT and it’s not bad. He’s cruising along like he did in high school. The student body makeup is definitely killing the fan base as it has been for years. In his freshmen dorm floor there are only a handful of kids who care about sports. Lots of Asians and Indians. All good people, but different cultures. GT is choosing to prioritize others over tax payers of the state of Georgia. I don’t agree with it and withhold donations. But, your rant is a good one even though you will have to read repetitive bs for the next 9 months. That is what message boards are for. I enjoy every post.

It's nice to hear someone else say GT wasn't that hard, I'm a 2010's engineering grad and it just wasn't that bad. I don't know where the hell the horror stories come from. Never did an all-nighter, spent a ton of time drinking/screwing around with friends/chasing girls. If you're sharp, come in well-prepared, and have some baseline discipline, it's not materially different from attending a strong high school on the pure coursework side of things. People act like studying engineering at GT is like going to ööööing BUD/S but it's not that much of a thing.

As for the 'GT not prioritizing taxpayers' thing, I do and don't agree. Yeah, GT probably takes an excessive number of international students, but there's a point where it's also like, if you or your kid can't get in, öööö you. Sack up and get a damn 1400 on the SAT. GT is the most prestigious public school in Georgia by a mile and it's baffling how few kids from Georgia get in/attend, especially white kids. The degree to which the in-state white kids get out-competed by the in-state Asian kids is legitimately incredible on a per-capita basis.

I had Wendy’s spicy chicken sandwich today and I must say it hits number 2 spot under cfa spicy chicken, may even be a contender. Definitely better than Popeyes.
The difference is the breading. Chicfila and Wendy's spice comes from the breading while Popeye's is from a sauce.

When Collins is gone, I will move forward. I did the same with Pepper, Curry, Ross, Lewis, GOL, Chan, and CPJ. I never called for firing any of them. I expect our executive to look at the situation, assess what we can do and what is best for GT, and make a decision. If our executive AD loses control of the program, I expect his boss and those with much more influence than me, and funding, to handle the problem.

I don't pretend to have any power or influence over GT football. I love GT football and hope for the best decisions. I wish we had unlimited funds, but we don't. I would love for BDS to be a palace. As a kid, I used to think Grant Field was the best stadium in the world. I realize now it was kind of a dump

They pussified Tech sometime in the ‘00s to get the retention rates up for ranking purposes. It’s pretty sad, because (even though I made it through Tech easier than most in the early ‘90s), I firmly believe that going through that fire makes you stronger than the “it’s just like high school” version.

There was never a honeymoon period with Chan; from day 1 there was a sizable contingent of “fans” spewing hatred of the hire, even going so far as to actively discourage recruits from signing. It was just as bad with Chan from day one as it is now with Collins…the only difference being fans are more unified now than then.

But my point is this; without the very public constant demeaning of Chan and staff, how many of his seasons would have been better than 7 wins?

They also get a much higher caliber of student based on the reputation earned by those going through the fire so it’s a little of both.
